To ALL visiting kiters,

Today 2 kites went down and washed through the swimming flags in front of the club house at Scarborough. This is an absolute No No.

We stand to lose our beloved surf break if kites continue to get washed through the swimming flags whilst crowded with swimmers. The clubbies were less than impressed

It is rarely if ever a local and always a friggin Euro or someone deciding to try the waves. Scarborough is the not the location if you are not 110% confident of your ability to play in the waves without dropping your kite. If you want to learn, no probs, go upwind to Brighton and stay up there well away from the Surf Life Saving Club.

There is a heavy side shore current that takes you straight into the swimming area if you cannot relaunch your kite withing a few seconds. PLease stay away from the waves in this area as they are bigger and more powerful than they look, especially if you don't know what you are doing.

Relations are becoming strained between sailboarders and clubbies alike and not due to the locals. PLease be respectful enough to know your limits and stay well upwind away from the Clubhouse and flagged area. You are not allowed to kite through the flags. You must be 200m out to go around them.

Can the visitors also please not walk your kites up through the vegetation in dunes as they are a fragile part of the dune stabilization program. Our use of this spot is tenuous and getting worse due to the ignorance or lack of respect by visitors.

WA is a friendly place to kite, but if we lose our beloved break you wont find the scarborough locals very friendly at all

PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE, SOME OF US LIVE HERE

somehow darren,
i don't think euros in campervans are on an internet kind of vibe. more like a sing songs and play poker round the campfire experience.
all whilst extolling their "incredible" skill levels in this "fabulous" sport which they have mastered.
no, i don't think they are hearing you brother.

we hear you though! maybe you should incite violence.

Local kiters (experienced or novice) kooking-out at Scarborough will get a ban in place,
just as quick as anyone else.
Kitehard is being cunning and diplomatic here by using Euros as the scapegoats,
but at the same time hinting to newbie wavekiters to hang upwind on the fringes.
Read Pecking Order.

Scarborough is not a spot high on the list for visiting Euros.
Gero and Lancelin are bigger dots on the Euro kite map.

Having a swimming area immediately downwind of the windfreak wave zone doesn't help the situation.
It's a time-bomb with a nervous tick. Tick.

Good luck crew,
it might be easier to move the Surf Lifesaving clubhouse than solve this ongoing problem.

Regards,
slave.
