On the weekend I was giving my girl a lesson.
When we were walking back to the beach when I said hang on to my harness real hard.
I then tried to get up rather than body dragging. "WHAT THE" we got up it was hilarious.
I am now gonna try a small ski rope to my harness about 3 mt a give it a try.
Has anyone else tried this or something similar
O and the transition got ugly, still fun though.

Hi Youngbull,

Yep, done it a while ago. Towed Andy Rawson back from a heat at Jurien in a comp when he lost his kite. Andy was 115kg and I towed both of us back riding our boards back upwind to the beach easily.

Also towed a mate with a short rope of about 3-4 m at Augusta just for a laugh. It was great and worked well except for the transitions (have to loop it downwrds next time and go for a carve) .

Also towed a few surfers across the pass between Lano Island and North Point. They were doing it hard after a long day of surfing. Again got em on their feet and scurfing across the channel.

It's great fun but watch the extra load you put on your kite and lines.

Good winds,

yeah done it a fair few times with mates bout a 5m rope works best an a skim board. we were doing it in the waves, easiest way to take off is have some slack in the rope and wait for the kiter to take off then run and jump on the skimboard like normal and you are both planning easily.

p.s. we got to the point where the kiter could do rolls in the air while at the same time the skim boarder could be doing surface passes on the water. pretty fun.

just thinking, it would probably help to have a short length of heavy shock cord between you and the surfer to smooth out the jerky pull ups you'd get from the tow rope? especially while waterstarting.

nice idea with the shock cord but it doesnt work, there is no way to soften the jerks except to be more powered.

p.s. the jerks on a skimboard actually arent that bad(if its a good stiff one) we were using a carbon fibre exile skimboard and it was really efficent and could nearly go upwind after getting it right.
