after a nice session on my twin tip (2010 slingshot misfit) the weekend, noticed a 10cm delamination on the middle of my rail, which needs to be fixed.

now, i have heaps of expererience fixing surfboards, but none with kiteboards. I shpuld be able to do the job but dont know what to use. is polyester resin ok? or should i use epoxy? what happens if you use poly when you should have used epoxy?

I had a look at the slingshot website to find out what they are mad of, but the best i got was that it was made out of 'resin x'

Also, anyone got any tips of what to do if the foam on your bar starts flaking off? I was thinking some kind of waterproof grip tape, but dont know what.

Hi Steve, lets say all modern twin tips are made using epoxy, its a lot tougher and gives manufacturers a better control of the process. all the layers were put in a press at 30 ton pressure and then the mold was heated up.

So you will want to replicate that process as far as you can, which means , for you, clean the area you want to stick back together and apply some epoxy, then put a clamp on the board to put the pressure on.

Should work out OK just tape off any area you dont want smotherd in resin after your done.

Ill be repairing two epoxy surfboards this week and you wont be needing more than a spoon full of resin for your fix, so im OK if you want to come by while im mixing my batch.

The grip on your bar is usually the same stuff as the material used for surfboard deck pads

Bar is in pretty good nick, will try the contact adhesive and restick.

Definitely sounds like I need to use epoxy, sq will pm you and see if I am around when you are fixing stuff.

Delam is only about 1cm deep off the rail, just long.

I'd be contacting Slingshot and having a nice long whinge. Not good enough for a two year old board
