Anybody know anything about kiteboarding in Cornwall, England; Hossegor, France and Dubai around June/July. Going this year and only planning on taking one kite cos I want to surf also. Any tips on good locations in any of these places? Also, should I take 8, 11 or 16m?

Dubai on the best day is 16m, very rare to use anything smaller!!!
there is a small crew of kiters there and a few shops that can help you out!!!

Try south wales, round Swansea area, specifically the gower.
on the pomme forums they always rave about the Gower....and rightly so

I'm originally from Gower and its a top spot for both Surf and Wind.
Check Llangennith, Oxwich, Port Eynon and Rhosilli or further West at Pembroke specific bays Freshwater West, Manobier, Tenby.

Most of the wind however is generated via fronts and low pressure systems as are waves.

If you want specific detailed info on south Wales send me an email (click my username) and i'll tell you all ye need to know.

Hey Poor Relo, you mentioned the pomme forums, what are the urls for some of them, might go straight to the source cos I still don't know what size I should take, or maybe Hadlow can just lend me some.

Go the gower, less crowds by far than cornwall, less hype too.

Cornwall best spots - north coast ie when wind from sw to nw - Perranporth beach, Watergate Bay. South coast - basically when wind has east in it - Marrazian beach.

You can get nice breezes around that time of year, I learnt to kite there 5 years ago, just don't expect regular breezes like Perth and take a summer suit.

If your on the south coast there are so many good spots.. favs include Camber Sands(east of Eastbourne), Anywhere between Brighton and Portsmouth (Chichester, nice sandbars & flat water), calshot (near Southampton), Isle of White( too many spots to mention), Poole Harbour....For Waves stick to the West and Southwest coasts...UK has nearly 3ooo miles of coastline....Have fun....Take a 3.2 suit..

I've kited in North Wales and Western England. Anglesea, Llandudno and Anisdale near Liverpool. Huge beaches as there is a huge 10m tide, no sharks to speak of, but you've got to watch that tide. It can cause currents of up to 7 knotts and if you get into it and travel the same direction as say a 15 knott wind, then your apparent wind drops to about 8 knotts and your kite will fall out of the air. Can be very dangerous. Always ask the locals and don't go out by yourself.
