Hey Dan sorry to hear about your boards, and sorry to hear about Rob G's gear loss at Mullaloo, and Puppets gear and whole vehicle in Safety Bay, and all the others who have lost gear,

It's really encouraging to see that the interest in stolen equipment shown by the minister and the police has slowed down the amount of gear being taxed. [}:)] That letter from them sure did the trick.

It seems to be increasing, not getting better. I guess we forgot to tell the crooks that there were extra police around so as they could be scared and give up their sinful ways and instead see the light.

Well it's election day and I'm going to register my protest Dr Gallop. UP YOURS!

Hey all,
The cops actually did a drive around Woodies last Thursday at about 5pm. Only problem is that it seems the thieves like to hit earlier than that! But at least they made an appearance.
Pity they hadn't beem there earlier in the week when a Discovery got it's window smashed.

Come on ,guys !!!!!

Where do you keep your heads ??? Buried in the sand ?

Get your **** together!

The official Police attitude and "advice" is:: "Don't leave valuables in your car"
They are even starting to put signs up saying this.

What do you expect them to do ? Send Seargent Bloggs down to sit there on windy days ??

They get complaints all the time. "I left my $2000.00 video camera in my car,and someone stole it."

I left my takings from my business......
I left my wallet with $1300.00....
I left my $4000.00 kites and board......
" " " Mobile phone
These are all real events, witnessed personally.

The point I am trying to make is that YOU have to take responsability for your gear.
Try to only take what you need to the beach. Can you take your spare gear on to the beach where you can watch it ?
We usually form a camp where everyone leaves their gear,so there is usually someone there all the time.Improve your car security.HIDE your gear if possible.
I believe EVERY car park has this problem. Shopping centres, beaches, tourist lookouts etc, etc.
So,get real guys. Don't blame the poor cops who have to deal with some real bad ****,like violent assaults, murders, car crashes etc.

They dont have much sympathy for anyone that can afford to leave thousands of dollars of recreational equipment laying around.

Oh,yes, and if you just got one of them you beaut,$3000.00 flat screen TV's, better improve your home security !!!!!!!!!

im sorry...

should we not try to create a culture that results in not needing to worry about what we leave in our cars?

just because there are people who think it is ok to take other people's property shouldnt mean we should accept that and give up on trying to make our beaches safer

why dont you take YOUR head out of the sand?

come on jan and others, user is right.
perth has had this "culture" for ages now.
basically if you are leaving your car in a carpark leave it empty or be prepared to lose it.
it suxs, but unless you employ a big guy to beat the crap out of the people that are doing it, nothin is gonna change.
what are the pollies or the police gonna do, employ more beach police to patrol for us? dont think so.
but if it makes u guys feel better sending letters and recieving the standard responses with your name inserted at the top then go for it.
unfortunately it is the world we live in.
