I have a few old kites lying around the shed, just wondered if anyone had some creative uses for them ?

For example a mate used to have one as the canopy on his four poster bed.

any ideas ???

They are 05 Rhinos in fairly poor condition- I don't want to sell them cos' they are not a beginners kite and no experienced rider would want them.

Bit of a discussion on this topic here:

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=34043&SearchTerms=old+kites

The thing that stuck it in my head was GreenPats reference to Sjoukje Bredenkamp wearing a dress made of old kites to some event. Can't think why that would stick in my head.......

Come to WA. At midnight on the new moon of march, we will burn them as a sacrifice to the wind gods. Our lack of wind this season might be reversed for the whole of march and april.
The gods will be impressed with our generous offer, and not only will we be granted nice wind, but a good swell, and hot weather at the same time.
(You can mail the kites if you wish)

I think I will turn them into a big beach shelter. At least that will be useful.

a good kite bag sounds like a good idea or make them the floor outside your tent when you go camping (if you go)

Blasphemy!
conduct a funeral, then treat your old kite as you would a dead relative.
bury it in a suitable coffin (the bag it came in?) and have a concrete tombstone made with some kind comments and include the dates... like 2005-2007, a short but happy life...

dont dare burn an old kite as an offering to the wind gods, they will give you **** wind, if you want good wind, the sacrifice needs to be virgin 2008 top notch gear!!! (unused!)

Enbed them in your concrete pad, polish and use as floor cover.

If your a creative guy
Laminate them or use them as an inlay into a wall or a print in a floor.

Or you could just use them as a tarp to keep stuff dry.

Burning them sounds like good fun. I think we could make the news....

Cheers Al

HOT picture of her Pat! [}:)][}:)]

Another idea, make it into a car cover

=OR=

For those who use the sunlight reflective things that go across the windscreen, stick the kite logo etc., and the entirety of the material to cover that.

Back car seat cover to stop sand getting onto seats - just shiat to sit on.
