Hi,
Has anyone been to Vanuatu kiting before, and is it any good in early August?
We are staying at the Iririki Island Resort, Port Vila and I'm trying to decide whether to take kite gear and what size kites to pack.
Thanks

I was there a couple of weeks back. The breeze was pretty light. I got a couple of rideable days on my 14m SLE. There are two main spots for riding (though plenty of undiscovered ones too I guess). One is hideaway bay to the north of Port Vila. Here there is a bay that catches a bit of the south easterly breeze. The wind can be a bit gusty though as its coming across the island. The other place is right around on the north eastern side of the island. This place gets an uninterupted breeze straight off the ocean but is ringed by a reef which apparently should only be crossed at high tide. I had a short session there before the breeze died at the end of a rain squall.
Both these places are rideable but if you want to take a kiting holiday there are probably better destinations. Fiji? Qld?

The place is amazing...
Just got back last friday from vanuatu most amazing ten days of my life, the locals and so friendly and everything is so buetifull. The sand spit that reachs out to hideaway island offers insane kiting on most wind direction and to the north there is another fun lagoon we rode but like said above the place very undiscoverd an a bull**** kiting spot got just be the next bay around. great adventure worth the trip. Also some killer wave riding spots
