Does anybody know if Aussies can get a Visa on arrival in Brazil?

Last time I had to get one through their Embassy in Canberra and it took 4-5 weeks!

i was able to get one on arrival at sao paulo airport in 2003, it was cheaper than getting one through the embassy. but the brasilian immigration staff told me it wasnt the done thing and that you are supposed to get one prior to entering.

risk getting deported or pay the "urgent" fee for a quick tracked visa?

It actually now takes 10 working days. When Rich and I went to Brazil it took us only 4 days. I assume it helped that I spoke portuguese and was Brazilian.

The consulate in Sydney issues them all the time and the fees are quite low. So no need to go through Canberra if you can be in Sydney.

Be careful as for some countries the airline will refuse to take you when boarding the plane if you don`t have a visa.
