Hi folks,

We are after competitors for the WA freestyle state titles, which will be held at Woodman Point on 25th and 26th February. So far we have only had interest from 4 people, and may look at cancelling the event if we dont get enough people. This is your last chance to enter.

Please register now by posting on seabreeze or sending an email to www.waksa.org.au with you name and a contact number.
For more detail please see email below, noting you must be a Waksa Member to compete.

Thanks
Dale and WAKSA CREW
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WAKSA have locked in February 25th and 26th to hold the WA Flat Water Titles at Woodman Point.

We're going to be running a special format that encourages competitive kiting for those that are new to competitions. Kicking off on the Saturday we will run a pre-qualifying event where all non-seeded riders will have a chance to compete against each other in a man-on-man knockout (double elimination if time permits), moving through into the finals to be held on the Sunday.

The finals will see the winners of the pre-qualifying rounds compete with the seeded riders for the State Freestyle Title, again double elimination will be followed if time permits.

We will be running the following divisions: Open Men’s, Open Women's, and Open Youth.

There will prizes for both pre-qualifying and final events; so if you have always wanted to come and compete then now is the time to show everyone what you can do.

The event will be judged according to the judging criteria used in both the 2004 and 2005 Gravity Games, and the 2005 Geraldton Nationals. This will be made available shortly.

There is no entry fee and WAKSA will run an all-day BBQ on the Saturday.

Please email your name, contact details, and division(s) - e.g. Youth can also enter Open Men's - to [email protected] to register. Feel free to post your names here too. Entries close on Friday 17th February and it is the responsibility of all competitors to ensure they are current WAKSA members. Membership forms are available from www.waksa.org.au.

Updates will be posted so keep your eye on this thread!

Just remember this comp has a different format, you wont have to compete against the sponsered riders on saturday at all, that way you can find out how good you are compared to your mates , then the winners get to rider on Sunday and see how they match up.
I'm pretty sure we are acknowleging the best "Unsponsered Rider", so come on down and give it a crack.

Beginners, intermediate we dont care its all about fun, a BBQ and a chance to catch up with other kiters in a awesome location.

ps- tell your mates

I will keep updating this thread. The last two seeded men are Jake and Ryland, if they choose not to enter, the remaining seeded places will trickle down to Wayne Hancock, Jason Lewis, Lance Gelden, and Jan Hurst, in that order.

For everyone's benefit just in case:

Seeding refers to whether a competitor has a rank within a particular event. In the absence of a pre-existing, official WA ranking system we have determined seeded positions for this event from the results of competitors in the 2006 Nationals, 2005 Gravity Games, and the 2005 Nationals.

The results of this event will be the first step toward an official WA ranking system, and will contribute to the seeding of competitors in future WA events.

OK, the "beginners, intermediate, we don't care" line makes me comfortable enough to give it a go! If an unstable jump and messy backloop are enough of a bag of tricks....I'm in!

Put me down for Masters, and Open Mens Unseeded

Great - looks like it may not be cancelled
If you are thinking about entering consider this !
Every entrant competing will be included in waksa's official state rankings.
Official ranking is important. For eg.:-
WAKSA may be looking for 20 riders for the Aust. Day Skyworks Festival next year. Only those kiters who have recorded a state ranking will be eligible to apply.
A chance to cruise around in front of 250K spectators Good enough reason to spend a day @ Woodies I reckon.
There will be other events & benefits as well.
DO IT Sign Up & join in - its all good fun

Send some much needed wind this way please
