Dear Freestyle crew

so far, we have received 11 registrations for this comp. In order to make the comp worth while, we need substantially more registrations - at least 40, preferrably more.

The comp is at risk of being cancelled unless we receive sufficient registrations within the next 24 hours.

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER for the comp. There will not be registrations on the day.

Go here to register:

why do you need 40 regos?
Can people register on the day?

It would suck if it gets cancelled keen as to see the WA freestyle talent!

Maybe conditions to enter the comp are too restrictive...
Maybe people that work, live & kite in WA would enter as well, although they are not OZ permanent resident living in WA.
maybe you need to have more welcoming entry conditions to get more people entering...just suggesting...
Also, as Marvin suggests, rego on the day would be more flexible...

I am back in Townsville (after a few weeks in Perth), so I will not be able to come...

Any way, I hope you guys will get enough people for a successful event.

All the best!

It doesn't matter if your not the best in your category! Get out here and have fun at one of the worlds best freestyle locations. You get to have a great time, meet new people, kite at woodies with minimal people (when in your heats) and watch some of he best talent that Australia has to offer. This is the first state champs in 6 years! Let's make this event awesome.. Common people register now.

It does not surprise me at the low level of interest.......last time the WAKSA membership was polled....competitions was very low on people's priority list.

I personally love comps and agree with Shan...they are great to meet people and just have a cool day at the beach.............I would even enter the old people's section, but I don't twinny anymore.

If there is such a low level of interest what I would suggest is having a small low key comp at woodies without all the fanfare. Get in done in <2 hours get the results, hope next year there is more interest. Still have the event but just make the organising proportional to the amount of interest. It's definitely a bit amateur but IMO better than having no comp at all- at least then there is rankings for nationals etc.. Seems odd why WA of all states would have issues with having state titles out of all of them.

Does one have to use a twinny? Some good strapless freestyle on surfboards. Good to see some of that as well. Perhaps they could have some sort of handicap like in the surf comps. Not stirring, being serious! Be good to see some old school free style as well.

Free style..........anything goes.........but SB on flat water does seem a bit lame.
