To all WA Freestyle State Titles riders,

Thank you for taking part in the event on 3rd-4th February and for being so helpful in setting up and packing down; your help was central to the success of the event.

Although we completed many heats before being blown off the water on the Sunday, unfortunately too few rounds were completed to be able to determine positions for the Maters, Open and Juniors . The draws as they stand will be uploaded to the WAKSA website soon for you to see how you did go.

Shannon Ducker made the conditions look easy putting in an excellent performance in the Women’s Final. The Women’s results were 1. Shannon Ducker 2. Jessica van den Berg 3. Chrissy Gaudieri 4. Sue Anderson.

WAKSA regrets to inform you that the remainder of the event will not be run. This is for two reasons;

1.On the back of Kitestock and all the other events this season we simply do not have the human resources to run another day.

2.The weekend forecasts are becoming steadily less promising.

I’m not sure whether this news will sadden the Competitors or the Committee more; we understand you will disappointed not to known definitively where you came, and we are frustrated that all the time and effort spent on the event has not produced a result, and that due to a lack of manpower we cannot deliver the remainder of the event.

We trust despite being disappointed you can appreciate WAKSA’s position.

On a brighter note please remember this; WAKSA possesses the wherewithal to stage all manner of competitive and social events, we merely lack the manpower! This presents an excellent opportunity for you as a WAKSA member: if you have an event you want to see happen, put your hand up to champion it and WAKSA will happily provide you with the infrastructure and all the advice you need in relation to organisation, management, and permits. Just email [email protected] to get involved.

Thank you again for making the event as great as it was. With your enthusiasm and support WAKSA can only grow bigger and better!

Your WAKSA Committee

Hi Tom,
As you will recall we ran a round-robin format. This means the draw does reflect the heat results. We're hoping to get them up this weekend.

are you still going to run the Wave State Titles?

because all that has happened this year is the big air event and kitestock.

that is only one competition.

thank you

Brad do you have any idea of what these guys do to get these events off the ground?? There's a little more to it than inviting people to the beach. Organising these events is a full time job and I reckon 40 hours a week at work to support themselves financially is probaly enough already.
If you're not happy with the number of competitions, join the committee and help out.

Hi Brad

Unfortunately due to all the reasons listed and the lack of wind on the available days it has become too hard to run the Wave event at this late stage of the season .

Like Dan said it takes a fair bit of organising to set up an event and a fair bit to cancel one as well so despite not actually having an event a lot of work was done anyway .

Just the way it goes with the weather , ask anybody involved with the Rotto swim in that regard . Just not a good season for comps .

We will try again next season .

Regards
Mike

Bummer Dudes

I was so looking forward to Spacemonkey taking out the titles too

Maybe next year Tom.

I'm not sure why 40 knot winds is any reson to have called off a competition, just pull out the trainer foils and off you go

Cheers

John
