Having seen Turtle Dove going off its nuts from a distance during my days as a deckie.
And just seeing Tom Carroll hit it in the new 3D movie.

When are us WA kiters going to get into the action? I'll post some pics of this wave today.

I was looking at the co ords on google earth, terrific angle for S-S/W.

Pretty impressive that the Dutch first charted Turtle Dove Shoal back in the 1600's. They must have karked themselves when they saw that mother breaking in the middle of nowhere from one of their little sailing boats.

The spearfishers and crayfishermen say it has a reputation for lots of large tiger sharks and occasional gws, probably because so much fish there.

It will be an adventure to kite it, not for my skill level though!

i'd give it a hack, shotgun?

those guys must be bummed - pretty small day for dove.

but great post - brings back memories of my big bank days

Did it break at big bank? I'd never heard that. You'd be carving through the crays as you went down the line there wouldn't you?!

^ apologies, I thought we fished near and saw turtle dove while out at big bank, but now I recall was when we steamed south of the abrolhos.. was impressive to see at the time and its cool how crew are now surfing it. Always wondered about that..

most of big bank was seriously deep as I recall.. sure earned the money out there
