Going for a swim at my local this arvo ....not a soul on the beach , one kiter on his way in slightly going down wind .
over cast , gusty , rain squalls ...not a perfect day .
i thought I would signal to help him land and as I did he self landed neatly with a smile .
introduced myself and enquired the kite size and was astonished to see that he had rope tied to his waist and was hooked in !! Holy **** ....he laughed and said his gear had not turned up from Europe yet and he could not wait anymore ....he said he purchased a cheap kite from gumtree to tide him over and was given an old surfboard !!
Made my day !!!

If you can ride with a rope around your back you are dramatically underpowered.
At my preferred power level (11m in 30 knots), the rope would instantly sever my body into two pieces.

most euros travel with a climbing harness its quite popular over there. they are pretty light and pack down to point theres no reason not to take one and also do well in a pinch
