Hey guys, I am considering buying some bindings for my kite board for a more solid feel and some ankel support, but i am a bit worried that they will give me a hard time getting the board on and off.
Guys i have seen with bindings before put them on on the beach and then slide into the water. Many of the places i kite are very onshore and require a wade out into waist deep the water before starting. Can someone who rides with bindings tell me weather this will be a problem?

also can anyone recommend a good brand to get? i have size 11.5 feet with very high arches.

ive got an Aussi brand and their wakestyle board (c avatar) and its great

i ride very onshore X shore but getting out is easy as. just jump on and ride it with out your feet in until your in deep water/ far enough off shore it takes about 30 sec to get them on and pulled tight.
i dont ride off the beach cus i dont want to chip my board on the reef and also you get pulled about a bit and your pants get wrecked.

the Catapult bindings are $350 and offer huge padding underneath.
they are a very tidy package and make board control that much easier.
not that heavy either, carbon fibre base plate i think (looks it).

i havent found any chaffing around my ankles like that is often complained about by Liquid Force Union users
check out www.catapultkiteboarding.com for contact details and some photos are here

I am a bit biased especially as they are the only bindings i could get in my size (14.5US). so if any one out there has massive feet just email them and they can get you a custom pair.

BAHAHA kite crazzy are they the flash Austin 1999 pro models with curly laces... unions are the only ones to go for they are easy to get in and out of but nothing like foot straps they will make your board much heavier but landing fast easier...LF or go home for bindings they make proper ones and have been in it for a while.

You'll get used to them after awhile. Saw the Catapult ones. They look pretty decent and well made. For that price you cant beat Catapult. There are a couple of Used Best Bindings going for cheap in Seabreeze... these are pretty good too. A friend rides em.

If you have more to spare then try the hyperlites,LFs or CWBs. Try em out in a wakeboarding shop. Most bindings these days are easy to get in and out of, without lube.

Used the Obrien Plush Pro's quite a few times. They ain't cheap but the sure are oh so comfy.
Last for years too, i know a guy who's had a pair for 5 years, and they're used in the ocean.
Ratchedt style closure (like snowboard) makes it too easy to get in and out, tailor your ride.

I just picked up a pretty nice pair of best bindings, i'm abit of a virgin to the bindings though, so will be interesting to see how they crank in the water. I did find that they make the board alot heavier and may I would assume with the more weight will effect the kite as well, same a putting on a few kilo's. You may have to adjust the actuall holes on the sides of the bindings cause mine struggled to sit where i wanted them to.

Best to try a few different types/brands and see which ones feel most comfy for yourself. We have new and secondhand Liquid Force ones, Escalades, Unions, Watsons - kite and wake ones. PM if interested in them mate. Happy kiting!

I have a similar foot size (11) with a high arch and tried many types of bindings (a while ie 4 years ago) and just could not get comfy.

Maybe things have changed but they just did not cater for the high arch foot. Best try before you buy almost every pair I tried in the shop felt good, then after an hour my feet went to sleep and because of the high arch the top of my foot wore a little hole on the left foot after a few days. I got over this phase and ride with straps or strappless now.
