Got an old wakeboard lying around. Plan to put some fins on it and use it for kitesurfing.
What is the difference between wakeboard and kiteboard?

More rocker on a wakeboard which makes it harder if you're new to the sport (kiting). Makes it harder to edge and go upwind.

also if you're learning, a more flexible and flat board(less rocker) will help. Most wakeboards are very stiff

not as good as a kiteboard but they still work though - you might have to move the bindings from your usual wakeboard stance to get comfortable

i actually spent around a week riding 3 different kinds of wakeboards with a kite and the biggest thing i found was that they ride a lot slower....

but they handle the chop really well, and as long as you have some kind of fins on the rails of the board, they go upwind pretty good! (even channels or built in fins will do)

I was riding boards from a LF fish 125 up to an Obrian 148 i think...

Works excellent. have had so much fun out there today. and staying upwind was no problem. jibing is also very easy.
sliped a few times away when toe sided.

What sort of board is it backloop? I got a 2000 liquid force rythme that I still use. A bitch to keep upwind but I like the extra rocker for the swell. People still hassle me about it tho

I know what you mean with hasseling. I dont care to much about other peoples opineon who never tried to have fun outside the norm.
My bord is a obrien. it is 140cm long and 40 cm wide in the middle. When it picks up to 20 knots it is a bit difficult to stay upwind on a 15 m kite. Have just been for a nice downwinder from shearwater to loders creek.
