as an owner of a couple of waroos, my opinion is:

kite: love the way it flies, i'd give it 8/10 as its not perfect.
in saying that, no bow kite is yet. they are flawed by design.

spectra used for bridle, and attachment points: 5/10. I reckon its low grade crap (on the 06 model anyway). its snapped on both sides of my kite simultaneously causing my kite to go bye bye.

bar: 9/10 its a nice comfy bar, but i wish it had covers from the foam floaty bits to the bar itself. a couple of times slack lines have got caught in the gap, and caused spiral of death. now i know why, and it doesnt happen anymore, but still...

chicken loop/depower strap combo: 3/10. I have seen so many posts on ppls chicken loop snap, mine has also, and ive swapped it for the slingshot chicken loop. i now have faith in the chicken loop again.

anyway, thats my opinion on the waroo. If someone were to ask me if they should buy one, i would say yep, coz the kite is sooo nice to fly. what you save initially coz its a cheaper kite, you will pay for later for all the bits around the kite you will have to buy.

then again, on ALL kites you have to replace bits, so...meh

Unfortunately ,Best kites are a popular kooks choice!

One,because of the price,and
Two because they dont know any better !

So,logic says that the most popular kites for kooks SHOULD have kook proof connections !

Hi there,

I have a 9m and 14m 06 waroo with 06 bar. I have had no problems at all with the kite or bar and have used the 9m in 25 knt gusting to 35knt several times. My mate (fatchickenette) has a 9m 06 and a 13m 07 waroo with an 07 bar and he has no complaints or breakages. I think the waroo kites and bars are superb. cheers.

Mate you are not a kook your a mushroom
You live in the dark an your feeding on Bull****e are you a dealer or something cause you have something up your butt about best!!
I know a lot of people who have had 06 waroos me included an now have o7 waroos and are stoked, I have seen a lot of other more exspensive brand name kites have way more dramas than waroos.
Snapped chick loop is because of no maintinence and I have never seen stretched lines b4 being a prob.
So what kites do you fly user, that are soooo gooood !! and why ??

A lot of the problems you guys have mentioned are associated with the 2006 waroo, 2007 Waroo is improved and has many new features on it. Overall a better kite all round.

If you have any dramas with the gear, dont bitch about it, go and see your place of purchase and get them to sort it out. the Best 30 day garantee is still active and there has been only a couple of garantees granted over the past 12 months.

99% of times Best's service out does any service in Australia. If you find that you have been let down in some way, let me know or some one else that deals Best. Feedback is what we are all about and we listen to our customers and act on their request. This is why Best is becomming a dominant brand in the market.

Have fun

I must admit the swivel does have some faults, I gave it a greasin and works fine, especially in the high winds dept.
As for the design look at some of the others out there, it's not as bad a set up as the cabrinha's, too much crap on it!. liabel to tangle just doing a hot launch.

Ha ha, dodgy, These kites were and are far from dodgy. In fact I think you will find they were the most enjoyed and reliable kites in 2006 and made the way for the success of the 2007 release. The issues that have been raised are caused by general wear and tare, and these problems arent new, in fact ever since I started Kiteboarding we have had stretched lines, centre line breakages etc...the things is back in the day you didnt really care, as you would hapily sort the gear out yourself and keep on riding. Now it seems that if you break something, the whole world owes you.

Joe

Ok USER so we know you have a prob with waroos.....

so what do you recomend ?? And have you had any dramas with it ??
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The only dramas I had with my 06 waroos apart from gen maintainence was I found myself constantly wanting to go kitesurfing all the time due to the fun factor, so this year I got 2 more waroos to help with my addiction....but its worse, I want to go kiteing all the time still and I spend way to much time on seabreeze and other kite related stuff. mags dvd's etc mmmm, sound familiar anyone ?

cheers....Phil

Yeah, pretty familar. Love it, only after 2 months doing it. Awesome.

I broke a line (center) and subsequently the harness attachment on the kite (steering line on same side), but that was doing a hot launch in 30 knots or so.

Apart from that, main valve leaked (put a zip tie around it), could be a better valve though. And i also tore the protection bits which fold over the LE, glued it back on.

Its a great kite.

Actually, the swivel on the 07 bar does suck. Doesn't do what it's supposed to .

this was mentioned on the Best forum re the swivel, you might want to try it.

" the swivel is loaded with a really high tenacity grease, almost sticky.
if you warm it gently and carefully withone of those turbo lighters the grease comes out. then its spins reall easy.
hold the swivel in your hand when doing it to make sure it doesnt get too hot for the webbing."

I'm still using my own custom depower setup with the SS swivel.

Yes the SS swivel is definately better. I'll try to use a "turbo lighter" . Is that like an oxy torch!!!
