Had my first official decent session today down at rosebud. Actually got up on the board and stayed up and even went a little upwind (shazam!). However, I couldn’t water relaunch my 9 or 14. When I had lessons on a xbow, water relaunching took a second or two. My 9 and 14 behaved like two fat pigs! Didn’t want to move or slightly show any sign of raising a wing tip. Tried everything before I ended up having to rock my 14 like a b**** from side to side before I finally got it up… What was I doing wrong?
The leading edge was face down with the kite directly down wind of me. Lines crossed over like they should be, pulled on back line vigorously for both my 9 and 14 and yet nothing? Even walked (very shallow) around to the side so that the kite was at the edge of the window, still no good. Any help would be appreciated!
pull on both front lines, wait for it to roll on its back then work it to edge of window. I presume your kites are c yeah? if not then i havent a ****en clue nor ever will and am proud to be straight
if its got 5 lines, pull on the 5th until it rolls on its back. if its a bow you should just grab an armful of either back line and it will pop up i like to swing both ways
07 9m and 06 14m best waroo (BOW). Maybe it was because of the light winds?! My wind meter was reading an average of 10knots. Checked the South Channel graph and it was averaging aroun 20k?????? I don't have a 5th line. Oh, and i absolutely love the PHAT!
that whole stretch can be deciving; the wind can be cranking out at the fort (sth ch island) but it wont get into the beach, it stays up high. some guys used to run line extensions when they kited down there to try and catch the wind higher up.
well there u go.. u cant relaunch many 14m kites in 10 knots. and waroos u grab front lines swim forward a bit while u releas n it rols on its back, pull one sides lines n itl drift 2 edge. i rarely had probs wif my 9m 06 or 13m 07 relaunching unless it crashed awkwardly or the curent was messing with it.
