Hi, I go kite surfing in the Redlands in Brisbane and there is hardly any beach especially at high tide. I today tried to set everything up, attach my bar and then walk the kite and lines out into the water however by the time I got out, all the lines were tangled and I couldn't kite anyway ?? is this method a viable option? I am just beginning so I'd rather not launch the kite when on shore breeze and opstacles around. Any tips?

"Is there any wind that you wouldn't kite in"

Response: " Offshore"

So, don't wait around for offshore wind...it is gusty, unpredictable and you will struggle to get back to shore....

If you are in Redlands then go to Thompsons at Viccy Point, plenty of room to launch from and lots of help around...

Yeah I wouldn't kite in offshore breeze either. That is why I said onshore however onshore also has the problem of your kite going into a tree or rocks if something goes wrong.

I didn't see too much space at Thompsons at high tide.

Ok, so as a beginner you should only be going there at mid to low tide....high tide is crap anyway, way too choppy....

Most people launch from the grassed area next to the car park on the foreshore, it's pretty safe even for a tethered self launch from the bench seat that is bolted in place...

At high tide, the water is only knee deep anyway for a good 100-150m out from the foreshore....so at low tide you have an exposed beach with loads of room for launch and land...SE is the optimal wind for this area
