Locals,

Visiting on the weekend for a kite, I am presuming rashie & shorts are fine for PD - whats it like out on the reef when its blowing?

No need to pack the springy?

Its hard to contemplate from down here in Vic where it snowed on the weekend...

Most Cairns locals are wearing either a rashie or springy and have all commented on how cold it has been on the water for the past month. However, what we consider cold may prove very different to you southern folk and the rashie and boardies will suffice.

Real time water temp and windspeed data from Agincourt reef (on the outer reef just to the north of Port Douglas) can be found on the AIMS website here:

http://data.aims.gov.au/awsqaqc/do/station.do?stationId=1

You'll notice that the air temp has been a few degrees lower than the water temp lately, due to the southerly component in the trades.

If you are a skinny fella like me, take the springsuit.

...looking at the buoyweather long range models.....pretty similar to what is going on at the moment....they don't show any major changes to the current pattern.

In other words 25-35 knots.

I'll be taking my 8m, maybe the 6m if its nukin'.

If i were you guys I'd taking something smaller than a 9m as well!

I'll keep you updated.
