COMP DETAILS

We had the final meeting last night and the following was seen as the safest and fairest way of doing it so that we could all have some fun .

Briefing will be at 10.30am on the beach .
(look for the Red Bull tent and Airush trailer)

Red Bull girls will be coming at different times during the afternoon to supply our needs .

Rules and judging will be explained .
Heats will be drawn by numbers out of a hat , there are no seeded positions .
Each heat will have 4 riders and will be 15 mins with 5 mins between heats .(if enough wind )

If people have coloured rashies can you please bring them for us to use as it would be easier for the judges .


THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATIONS TAKEN DURING THE DAY .
(we want to have some fun too ,not spend the day trying to work it all out )

Single elimination will be run on Saturday up until the final , with the losers getting a second chance to get to the final on the Sunday if we have enough wind (looks good at the moment )
Same for the ladies first heat on Sat then 2nd chance on Sun .

There will be a panel of judges (3 maybe 4)

The Judges will score each wave based on criterea (to follow)


RULES
(these have been put in place for the sake of safety and to avoid frustration )

A kite leash must be used , a locked in chicken loop must have at least a suicide leash attached as back up .

No assistance to be given to a rider walking up the beach to get up wind during a heat .

No freeriding up wind of comp zone (200m)

Unattended kites to have lines detached and wound up .

A rider must register with Dean Gilkinson at the judging trailer before each heat to let them know kite colour and type .

The comp will start when Johnno thinks there is enough wind .

A rider intentionally riding in a dangerouse manner will be disqualified .


Remember it is a casual fun comp when working out wave priority .

JUDGING

Overall impression based on most radical manoeuvres performed in the most critical section of the wave .

Overall impression includes style , power , wave choice and length of ride .

All manoeuvres including arials to be performed or landed in the wave zone defined by the crest and the bottom of the wave
(bottom defined as the zone in which a powerfull bottom turn would be performed).

A score will be given for each wave based on the above .

A heat score will be made up of a riders 3 best waves .

Judges will clarify exactly what they are looking for at the 10.30 briefing .



WAVE PRIORITY

SAFETY TAKES PRIORITY OVER EVERYTHING

Wave priority goes to the first rider on the swell or wave .

A rider on a wave has absolute right of way over a rider heading out or not on a wave , other rider has to take evasive action to ensure no obstruction occurs .

If two people jibe onto a wave or swell at roughly the same time the upwind rider has priority . The down wind rider would have priority if already completed a bottom turn before the other rider jibes .

A following rider may not ride any waves that will be so close that their kite will obstruct the kite movement of the front rider .

A rider may not jibe onto a wave if their kite is going to obstruct a rider on the following swell from swinging their kite freely .


THIS IS A CASUAL COMP THEREFORE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AND CURTESY WILL BE EXPECTED .


Any rider blocking , obstructing or displaying bad sportsmanship will be penalised their best wave score .
If a rider feels obstructed they may raise thier arm to appeal to the judges .


ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL .

No discussions will be entered into .
(they have volunteered their time and will be doing the best they can so that we can have some fun , for which we are extremely gratefull



We have got a lot of prizes and every competitor is guaranteed a prize just for entering .

We will have a list of catergories that will recieve prizes as well .

-best TT rider
-best strapless rider
-best backhand rider
-happiest rider
-best sportsmanship award
-laziest rider
-best dressed rider


And a whole lot more that will be revealed on the day .

Johnno has also put up $50 for the best barrel ride .

There may be a nude award , this is unconfirmed as yet .

We will be on the beach at 9.30 starting the set up , all help will be welcome .
