Wave riding spots near Sydney?

Hi Guys, spend the odd day in Sydney is there anywhere near sydney that I can day trip to and kite some waves, cause there just flat water in Dubai

Well in winter there's not a great deal on offer in the usual westerlies, except maybe at Wanda/Boat Harbour in a SW.

Summer is where it gets better for waves though.
I can thoroughly recommend Butterbox at Long Reef in a NE. (Launch from Narrabeen and kite down to L.Reef, go to the downwind side of the point) Offshore wind on butter smooth water with waves but only for competent riders and a long swim in if something goes wrong.

There's plenty of other spots though. Wanda, Green Island, Palm Beach, Norah Head, Narrabeen, Umina etc.

wish people would stop telling people about butter box... more than 5 or so kiters in there and it gets silly, also it's not that often you get particulary good waves in there with a decent NE, as you need a SE swell. I'd give butterbox a miss, better to just kite the main beach at longreef...
