I have been Kitesurfing for about 1.5 months, and am getting pretty confident in the flat water (I don't mean good by any sense). Since I have surfed my whole life, I am aching to get some waveriding done with my Kite!!!

Just wondering what is the best board to ride for a newbie out there. I have attached some foot straps to one of my old surfboards, so I was considering taking that. But then maybe I should get confident on a twin tip first.....which is easiest to start with???

I am going for a trip up to Newcastle Sunday/Monday, and Stockton looks like a good place as it is HUGE, so I will hopefully have some space.

Cheers,
Tom

if your going strapped on a surfboard make sure you can ride WELL toeside on your twin tip first, if you can't get up wind and have control toeside then you'll get stuffed, being able to pop a little toeside is also a good for getting out over the waves. just make sure you've got a lot of space around you, you WILL drop your kite in the surf!!

one major problem will be getting off the beach if you have to go toeside out, sometimes it can be better to put the board on goofy and then get out the back and swap it round but that is gay way so you need to learn to take off to toeside.

not using straps means you can switch feet, you will fall off and get annoyed at yourself a lot a leggy might be a good idea but can get dangerous.

don't run over any surfers! they hate it..
