Maybe the nature of your post is the reason we do not see more women in our sport.
We should be encouraging women to our sport for reasons other than just eye candy.....
Well said Joe. To put it conversely, we need fewer chauvinist tools.
That said, I'm sure Susi understands that the amount of sponsorship dollars she earns due to her kiting skills and media abilities (which are excellent) is also increased by the fact that she appears in bikinis in ads that will mainly be seen by men.
Our sport and these forums are pervaded by objectification, and to some it's an acceptable part of the bargain. What others agree to is their business but I for one am not so into it. I have nothing against good looking women but I do find it insulting that folks think I will buy their kiting product just because it has boobs on or near it.
Props to Griffin Kites for stating explicitly on their website that they do not objectify women in their advertising and promotion.
www.monkeykites.com/about-the-kites/about Doesn't mean I'll buy a griffin kite but it will certainly get them onto my short list.
As for women in the sport, all the ones I know are into it cos they love to kite, not so they can be ogled by the blokes.
So Fiketto, don't tell me what I need.
