So once again another request for a prediction of a windy place in Mar to May.
I am going to be in a mix of Thailand and Phhilipines from the end of March onwards.
I have found this on Thailand but it all seems too good to be true!
kitesurfthailand.com/
Yes I am a sceptic!
All the winds seems to be a bit on the light side sub 16 knot
It seems Hua Hin may be the one for the best chance of wind.

Anyone have any experience with Thailand or Philipines at that time of year?
Thanks guys

Having lived there recently for a few years, I'd say Cape Town best avoided in December simply due to the fact it's holiday season, and the place get's VERY busy- accoms are harder to find and more $$$. Surem the wind is lekker pumping, but it generally is November thru til March.

February would be my pick to go...

He has been busy hasn't he?

It's from another kite forum but from what I have read and my limited travels it looks to be reasonably accurate and comprehensive, don't think I would agree with West Oz in April though so I am sure some other locations are debatable.

I would remove Ibiza Spain from that list. Maybe OK for the Windsurfers, but not kiting... I think it's pretty much banned across the island.

Happypants,
You're in between seasons in Asia from March to May. I would never call Thailand a 'kite destination' as the wind is crap on average (Although I've had some awsome sessions there), but at that time of year Hua Hin / Pranburi get some thermal wind.

Good point mate
Will be overseas anyway and will try and find some wind but ur right, maybe i should fly back via Cairns. When do the winds kick in up there? as early as April? All the suggestions are much appreciated

I reckon May would be getting close to it for FNQ . I head up in June/July but you'll have to head further north than Cairns for the consistant winds.

South Padre Island is coming into the windy/warm season right now for April/ May, if anyone is traveling to the US. Consistent wind, flat water, and waves.

I've kited on the little sister Island of Ibiza, called Formenterra. It's a beautiful spot, ok kiting in winter but not much wind in summer. Plus the beach is pretty small with loads and loads of sun worshippers. Some of them wearing nothing at all.[}:)]
