Got a 2011 switchblade and am pretty impressed. But just read forum on line replacements and now weak leashes. Should i be worried to flag my 9m in 25 knots to land it. Have not yet had to and would hate for it to seperate due to a fault.
The lines replacement issue is not about the lines being weak, but its to do with a small proportion of the lines developing uneven stretch and a spongy feeling. Cabrinha have no way of knowing which batches of kites is affected and with the help of the line manufacturer have resolved to replace all the lines (se other thread about this issue)
@the leach clip failure issue
Cabrinha is only one of at least a dozen brand using that exact same clip.
In most circumstances the clip does not bend.
The rider who bent the clip is built like a brick sh1thouse and has the ability to throw some very hard and powerful moves not all of which get landed he is still learning, and sometimes these riders break stuff.
However, those clips have to go for an altogether different reason, and I believe the industry will start to replace them very soon. The clip's design allows any stray line or leader to get trapped, the leash clip needs to be a locking type, that will not allow any other lines to be trapped accidentally, even though it would be a very rare situation for another line to get trapped in the clip.
