If you tend to wear out your depower line from abrasion through the bar try this trick with candle wax.
1. Remove the line and remove all sand and allow to dry.
2. Melt a candle in a double boiler (put candle in a bowl and place on top of a saucepan with boiling water in it).
3. Once wax has melted place the portion of depowerline that runs through the bar into the wax. Use a wooden spoon to work the wax in and around the line.
4. Once wax has solidified remove excess and...
5. Presto, no more wear

or just before you go out go to the shop on the way to the beach and grab some surfboard wax, then all you need to do is rub it up and down on your rope and you have solved the problem a million times easier and takes no time att all to do. i do it all the time and never have any wear (i dont even have plastic grommets in my bar anymore!!)

I think ass has the perfect solution. candle wax is to dry and cracks and falls of. surf board wax sticks to the rope like a fat kid to a cupcake. Try surfboard wax and you will never have to replace ur chicken rope again. Sponsared by "5 daughters surfboard wax"

I'd recommend KY for the five daughters; wax would hurt too much. But, then again, some people are into that sort of thing.

seriously though - doesn't the wax attract sand when you put your bar down on the beach?

surfboard wax is a combo of vaso and parafin wax. All petrochemicals. Its probably just as easy to use a bit of vaso to lube it up, or a bit of sunblock.

Are we still talking about depower lines?

Vaseline is an emulsion... water and mineral oil. I wouldn't put it anywhere near my bar, especially my kite-bar! Its' melting point is too low and it will spread everywhere. Waxes are far better IMHO. I'll be trying them
