I've had a chat with a guy who did an event like the one I'm planning for a different sport and I need a web designer to pull this off.
The idea:
Australia wide kiting competition with a few categories, surf, twin tip tricks, unhooked tricks, and maybe even crashes.
How it works:
A web site is set up to enter your videos for judging in your category, dates are set for final entries, your details go into the back end if the website so no one can see them and judging is done by the public on a 1-10 rating system without the ability to make comments (to avoid negativity).
Simple upload to enter and click to judge.
The web designer, what does he get? Simple, if you can attract advertising to the website you reap the rewards!
I'll be trying to get a few brands and shops on board as well to chip in for prizes etc... But the chances are the prizes won't be bucket loads of stuff, more that you'll get small prizes and the kudos of wining the competition.
Any thoughts from web guys?
Great idea. If you have the time yourself, try Wix. It's a great online web design tool that should cater for what you want, without too much overheads.
