Something weird just happened...
The war office started to bang on about the week ahead and I said "hang on" and opened up sea breeze. Then said "go on", I'm listening. ( well sort of)
Anyhow two things I noticed .
1. Opening up sea breeze was an instinctive reaction to the impending barrage of instructions.
2. She did not even flinch and seemed to accept this is just normal behavior.
Tell me it's normal behavior??
Sounds as close to perfect as you are going to get Eppo, has she got a single sister with the same attitude to DoW??
nah all taken mate. Must admit I did set a precedent in that when were 'courting - old fart word', I missed the first 8 dinner appointments cause the wind was up.
When the second child came though, her and her mother sat me down...bummer (then again both times she went into labour I happen to be kiting he he he).
But have worked this much out married men...
When at home be the father of the farqin year (but hold some back otherwise this becomes their benchmark and the norm), then when wind is up, seeya. Also make sure from time to time you let it all slip, don't do a thing, go kiting for 3 hours 7 days in a row...she loses it, then you crack into the father of the farqin year again and it is like wow!
By the way let's face it we are lazy farqers ultimately. You don't need to try and do the above intentionally it will just happen.
Also another tip...if she wants to go out with friends, have those stupid play dates and crap with her sisters kids, wants to visit her family for the tenth time that week, etc etc always, always let her go. The more the better. Build up the gratis points then cash em in baby. Also when you ahve not had a kite for a while get real grumpy, kick the dog, sigh frequently...that helps to.
Eppo , met your missus and kids in Bali - you have done well my son . I liked the way your family just slip into beach mode - they are used to it and expect it .Pretty soon you will have little gromms - mine is 22- its a buzz
My family beach life has been similar to my time in Bali recently - surfing or kiting - I didnt shop , go on the elephants, etc - my missus was concerned when I thought about going with her once and she suggested it was not a good idea .
She has supported me for 30 years in my passion - " no we cant ,he's kiting or windsurfing" - he has no time time for anything else ,dont you get it?
"No we cant commit to a time "- DOW(depends on wind )
I cant ask for much else
I have followed a similar belief - be there in full when its not windy and be ready to pick up the pieces or send her for a coffee when you get home full of buzz after a good session - before you lose your good will and as the kids begin to wind up the pressure and you feel like a little murder might be a good idea
Yeh my kids are growing up 300m from the beach in mandurah so are well adapted and love the water, which is a blessing because my wife is a bassendean bogan and hates the beach! Too bad! can't wait until they are old enough and can just take off, just us without her fussing about like a headless chook. Then again so does she.
Ps to the newly married guy. All good until kids then the game changes. One kid okay, two and above you gotta work it like Plummet and I.
You know you are in trouble like today. Kite pumped, ready to go, harness on, hooked in, its a crazy gusty Southerely, rain on the horizon, haven't had the Varial X out in 20 knots yet, cross off, sh1t for launching, trying to concentrate...then kite rings in kite bag. Pick up..its the missus...
when you get back can you boil some broccoli and pasta for the kids, its monday night its your night for cooking, blah blah blah....'okay, okay okay I say........
Seriously WTF (I didn't say that, just thought it). Anyhow the Varial X is one crazy mother Farqer kite, like a damn race car...the windier it got, the faster you flew...my eye balls nearly popped out. Good 3m swell as well!
then I got home boiled some broccoli...farq me.
