Just finished reading the above title written by Chas Smith.

Chas writes for Stab magazine, among many others.

His literary style has been labelled as Trash Prose.

This surfie book by Chas is a classic, a very funny romp, fast-paced and written in first-person.

The story is 'late factual', the setting is the island of Oahu, Hawaii and it delves into the lives and antics of a select few.

He writes like some kind of war correspondent ( in a trashy way), reporting from the frontline ...the war zone being the North Shore.

Here's a short excerpt from the book :

"I am exhausted. A day here is exhausting. A day here is a lifetime of stress.
Hawaii. Oahu. The North Shore. Surf.
How did it ever become a holiday destination ?
How did it ever become the coolest thing on earth ?
...Because it is beautiful and the water is warm.
Because it is always the same temperature, or roughly the same.
Because the sand feels perfect against half-naked, tanned skin.
Because tans are always better than pale.
Because coconut and pineapple make for fine cocktails.
...Because nothing except sex beats getting barreled.
It is paradise. It is hell. It is alive.

A jacked-up pickup roars by with four gigantic mokes in the bed.
A ratty Hawaiian teenage ice head in an 'A.I. Forever' t-shirt with torn sleeves asks me for a cigarette.
A.i. stands for Andy Irons.
I tell him to fk off."

I've been meaning to check this one out. But is it as good as Barbarian Days?

Chas and Derek Reilly ex tracks ....formally used to write and own stab which they then sold to surfstich for an absolute motza,
and subsequently went straight back to work at beachgrit in the hope of repeating the farcically inflated price they received for stab
comments of the week was ...the best section .....
Rory Parker...probably some relation to Peter Parker without the superpowers .. at beachgrit rivals our latte loving, hair cream, facial hair artist, chas

Seems like you don't think much of poor ole Chas ? ^^

Well, I was entertained by the book.

I don't really care about mass media wars and randumb propaganda.
