Hi I have a hole in my wetsuit that needs repairing does anyone know somewhere in Melbourne that will do it for a reasonable price? It has split where the stiching is on the back, I have had the wetsuit for about a year so I doubt it will come under warenty even if I could find a reciept.

Thanks

If it is a Peak or Rip Curl, they have a lifetime warranty and you do not need a receipt. Take it to the store where you purchased the suit from and they will send it to the Rip Curl customer service centre and they will fix it for you free of charge.

I even got them to put on abrasion pads on my butt area and they did it for free
This was in anticipation of me being dragged on my Butt early on whilst in my learning period.

Other manufacturers would also have the same policy I would assume in order to be competitive with Rip curl.

It would also depend on the rip or seam !

if not, i just got a rip on my wetsuit, fixed it up myself. All i used was dental floss and a pretty big needle. Took a while, and made sure it was tight and everything. But seems to do the job. Depends how big the hole is and how professional you want the job to look. Isn't exactly waterproof but apparantly there is some spray you can get that will make it water resistant/proof. I just did it to stop it taring more.

Hi Snowman

Last winter my Roxy wetsuit was looking pretty trashed. Worn out on the shoulders and stitching coming undone around the neck and back. I'd had it since the previous May and thought it was unlikely to be a warranty. As it turned out I was given a replacement top of the line Roxy 4/3 hollow fibre so I hope yours is a Roxy.

Good luck

If it is a split seam then glue it with contact adhesive. You can sew it by hand with blind stitches if you want. They are stitches don't go all the way through the rubber. Generally the glue is enough.

If it is a proper hole then you can either try to use some old rubber as a patch. YOu have to peal off the nylon coating so you are gluing rubber to rubber. You can use Seam Seal glue as a filler. Seam Seal dries kind of hard so it can be uncomfortable if the repair is on the inside near any sensitive parts.

G'day Snowman,
Take it down to Ocean Wetsuits, they specialise in wetsuits mainly for scuba but do repairs and even produce their own, you can watch from the shop as they repair it in the back room which is seperated from the shop by glass. 207 Lonsdale St Dandenong 9793 4661

All that effort for a wetty ??

I ripped the kneww out of my RipCurl Slick skin the other day - thought, hey I've had it for 3 yrs, doesnt owe me anything, so I cut the legs off at knee level and now I have a spring suit...also added bonus is that I dont get water up the wetty legs anymore
