Hi there,

I've got a ripcurl batwing wetsuit that I've used about 15 times and it's leaking on the seams allready - just wondering if these are repairable? There's a rubber like goo on the inside they use to seal any joins in the wetsuit and this is cracking and breaking off. Is there some sort of sealant you can buy to re-seal - the goo looks a bit like black sikaflex but much more flexible obviously. It's still a warm wetsuit but is leaking more and more.

It won't be under warranty as it's over a year old - just has spent most of its time in the cupboard.

Cheers

Ripcurl have a lifetime warranty on the seams. I have sent several suits back, one was three years old, and they fully replaced some worn panels and even replaced the zip attachment for free. Either take it back to where you bought it or send it back to Torquay yourself. You should get it back within 2 weeks max.

Glenno take it back to any Ripcul retailer and they will be able to sort warranty for you.
The liquid seam sealer stuff they use should not crack, must be a faulty one.

Cya and

goodwinds

Cheers fellas - I'll keep using it for the winter and send it back then. Silly question but do you need a reciept? Not sure if I've still got it...

A tube of Aquaseal is a good thing to carry in your kit bag, many and varied uses for this, including minor and major wetsuit repairs.
I tore several holes out of an expensive Tri suit and repaired it with this stuff and it's still going strong after 2 years !!

Some retailers may get funny about no receipt, but they should still send it for you as they can see how old the suit is by the model. If they wont send it for you just send it yourself by registered post, Rip Curl will send it back to you by courier free of charge.

Don't try and repair a Rip Curl suit, it invalidates the warranty, not sure if this is the same for other brands.

Also, a lot of warranties require that you take the item in as soon as you notice the fault, so maybe you should take it in straight away. You spent enough money on it!
