Hey Guys

I'm just after a bit of clarification of what I stood on today.
I was body dragging at Pinnaroo as I was walking out into the water and there is A LOT of sea weed there and as I waded through it I stepped on I think it might have been one of those thorn fish things? I have no Idea what they are but It felt like someone stabbed my foot with a ice pick! Yeh it hurt a fair bit.

Second question was is this common? do I just call it a once off or is it worth investing in some of those reef boots?

Cheers guys
BTW Had a blast body dragging today just enough wind I can't wait to get on a bord

lets hope your foot is ok, I recommend while learning you use booties especially when you have to walk through water to get back upwind or body dragging.

I have noticed the sea lice are back already (not sure they ever left!) they give you a painful sting and when you look at your feet or where ever they get you, you find tiny little nicks in your skin, their "whips" are so sharp they can go straight through the thickest parts of your feet!

Welcome to the club regardless as things are about to change once you get up on your board, its all good!!!!

Desmond,

Recent Similar experience:

I was kiting around Dongara, WA, last weekend. I stood on something very painfull amongst the seeweed on the beach. I briefly noticed some kind of hard spiky seeweed (maybe coral?). I did not pay too much attention and the pain was quickly forgotten as some beautiful wind was waiting for me!!!

Kiting cures everything!

haha Cheers guys Yeh It hurt a fair bit and I dropped the kite hopped up the beach and tried to investigate my sandy foot I couldn't see much so in pain decided to call it a day...then the wind picked up and I went out again Pain went away. Once I finally did pack up the pain came back as well go figure.

Maybe someday doctors will prescribe Kite surfing as a pain relief

Hey Desmond - if you cant see a big wound I would say its the sea lice considering we kite the same area, when I was doing lessons, before I got a pair of booties, I had to take antihistamines as the reaction from the sea lice was so bad.

The pain gets worse too and lasts for some time. I was getting cuts on my hands earlier this year too and the sting lasted for quite a while.

Soon enough you wont have your toes in the water and all should be fine.

possibly a small cobbler... cobblers are common around the seaweedy areas, if it was a cobbler consider yourself lucky, normally you go to hospital

The gynocologist looks up and says to the woman:
"You've got the biggest ***** I have ever seen!
You have got the biggest ***** I have ever seen!"
"Well you didn't have to say it twice"
"I didn't"

Stone the crows, Spruce, what the? Get a dog up ya, ya flamin goose.

By the way Des, we have spiney sea urchins over here that leave small black woody spines in your feet, they love the grassy/weedy areas, might be similar.
