With all the interest in course racing in the Olympics, what ever happened to kite boardercross? This was supposed to be the answer to boring races at one time, but it seems to have died away.

Somebody has to put their hand up to organise
Usually somebody who shows a lot of interest and is commited to the sport

Kite boardercross is a Kiteboard competition in which a group of Kiteboarders start simultaneously at the start of a course, then race to reach the finish line first.

It is also done with Snowboarding where it is usually 4 riders at a time. However I myself think it will be hard to get it into the Olympics just for safety reasons. (tangles and such)

I wasn't interested in it being in the Olympics. It just occurred to me whilst I was reading about the course racing and I thought I hadn't heard anything about it for a long time.

A few years ago it felt like a lot of the pros were keen to get into it, or at least I remember Shannon Best getting into it.

I guess it's expensive to set up the courses.

Don't forget the obsacles.

"Basically, boardercross (or kitecross) is a race on kites, in which small groups of riders (four, ultimately) race in heats, navigate their way around and over a set course of buoys and floating obstacles. The first rider to complete the course wins the heat, and the first two kiters to finish advance into a series of semis and finals. "

Not suited to race boards because of the jumps.

it would be awesome to watch. You reckon there would be people in oz/wa that would want to get into it? might be something to organize..?

^^
It would be fun. You'd have to get some big soft sausage like bouys to jump over. Bit like a steeple chase.

Do you reckon the Boardercross would be interesting if it just involved a obstacle course but on time instead of 4 guys at the same time? this would rule out tangles..
