A leash from harness to the chicken loop or harness line for pulley bars. As you can figure out when you let go on a chicken 4 liner its the equivalent of being hooked in and letting go of your hands and not being able to steer...

So instead of attaching it to on or the front lines so the kite loses it's shape when you unhook and let go of the bar or pull the safety, you attach it to the chicken loop, so if you are un-hooked, and let go of the bar, the kite will depower only to a point, but you are still in effect hooked on, and the bar will be out or reach. I can see why it's called a suicide leash, and that's why you need a quick release on it.

You can pull it back in, they are actually not that dangerous in certain situations. I rode one for about a year then 5th line came, which is the same thing essentially but with 100% depower when u let go.

I take it from that response when you use a suiside leash you dont have any other leash connected, i.e. the normal one that you would connect to the twin rings so you dont loose the kite if you pull the QR on your chicken loop.

.. and just out of interest, what the fluck do you do when lofted?

(or is that where "suicide" comes into it?)

If you have a suicide leash, make sure you have a quick release where you can reach it (ie on the back of your harness).
It also pays to have a quick release chicken loop too, that way you can bail the kite in a dangerous situation.

If there is unpredictable wind in the area,(yes those big black clouds), its often a good idea to not use one, or if you do feel the need to try passes in bad conditions, at least do it far away from the land and other hard structures. Maybe connect it to a single line instead.. but assess the risk on the day.

Hope this helps.

Suicide leash kills man.

Go 5 lines. If you crash just go down man, 5th line gives you a break. You also learn valuable kite relaunch skills.

dunno what your talking about, you obviously havn't ever rode suicide for very long it doesn't hurt, do any other sport and your gonna get way more hurt, as for 5th line it is a stupid idea then your just falling out of the sky instead of the kite slowing you down a bit.

Suicide isn't recc. for beginners at all - Beginners need a true safety system which is reliable and won't pull or hurt them, and a quick release available if need be. For the more advanced riders, if you're confident riding suicide, and can cop a heavy smash, it's up to your own discretion, and personal preference. No one can tell you what's right or wrong, or the best or not, try a few safety systems out first, then when you have a lot of exp. on your hands, give the suicide a shot if you wish. Just be prepared to release if need be - you never know.

Hey Kite Grom - Where's your local spot mate?

HIs local spot is prob tannum, he is also probably assmaster.

WHen you ride suicide thats all you ride, no other leashes. Have seen pretty much everything on a suicide system snap and the kite go flying. Im talking ripped harnesses, bent metal clips ect... Also some clips will just release someimes under the pressure. Suicide is good in an ideal world. when your kiting around other peoplE and with stuf downind of you letting go onto suicide can make for some bad crashes. 5th line will save all these problems and it wont drag you a 1km downwind from your board. THe only bad thing is that your kite will pretty much always get wet unless u can real it back in heaps fast.

My favourite is the "Murder Leash"...

It's very much similar to the suicide leash, except you clip it to the back of your mates harness... just before you dive your kite through the middle of the window and release the bar.[}:)]

naa you clip it to a sideline, then clip the other end to your mates harness, or if your feeling really evil, his board shorts.

Azza perfect example how you have managed to turn a post about one thing (suicide leashes) into a post about another (cats). Now could trollz are annoying sometimes (yet sometimes entertaining when someone takes the bait), but your constant changing of subject is very annoying because you effectively shut down a convo..

SO please in the future, less dribble.
