I'm not sure kite surfing was ever "cool". Juat look at folks faces when you say "I'm off to fly a kite"

Stoke, Stoke is cool though. Check out Kai Lenneys newest clip. He is hooting and halloring like an absolute kook, and in straps too! Either way, that short clip made me smile, smile alot, and so did this one mate. Good on him, and good on you for being a "cool" dad

Great to see an influx of kids getting into our sport, locally we now have around 6/7 lads
going really well , with one who's shredding and will be incredibly talented if he continues, worth a mention is some of the retailers who are assisting these kids with deals on equipment, great to see them sticking their necks out and looking at the future, and also a very wise future buisness move

Give them time, I was too pushy tbh, my daughter at 19 is now loving her daily lessons from dad, going great for the time spent in the water, her 1st solo body drag yesterday,
4 klms in good wind and never dropped it in the drink,

Not a highjack of hillys post
but as mentioned it's great to see the kids getting some support from retailers and brands
This is young Anthony eppen vanderaa, he makes a yearly trip with his dad up to Dongara and spends hrs daily on the water, I've watched him make great progress each time he's visited from 6/7 years of age, now 10 the little blokes going great guns

Fone Australia assisted at the Midwest Windfest with a new bandit7 mtr, as you can see he's putting it to good use,
Interesting to hear that research from brands are forcasting a big slump in up and coming youth , which in turn means a slow down in sales , so getting youth into the sport makes good buisness sence, I know locally the 6/7 kids feed of each other
and more are sure to follow, great work from the parents also

Awesome, great to see kids involved. Parents are the key and need to make the effort initially then they run with it.

Eppo good to see your son absolutely ripping... My daughter is into standup and when its light wind she is trying it with a windsurf sail... Baby steps to a kite she's 10 and her surfing at her age is leaps and bounds ahead of mine at that age...

I think you got to listen to your kids and push them a little but don't burn them they will just go "NAAA not for me Dad...."

Never ever tell your wife the dangers they will never let you take them.

Funny I thought she would get really into skateboarding like me but hates it as she has too many falls. But Snowboarding she loves go figure.

Oh Hilly that's the stoke I see in my daughter and when you are absolutely buggered and she say's grab your board dad lets go again I feel unbelievable my wife beams... Its a great balance as my younger son just likes to hang around dad and sit on the board mal or standup he will try when he wants to....

Awesome hilly. It is one of the special moments watching and kiting with your child.

Christmas day,
Son: "why can't I kite, we don't have to be there until 5pm"?

wife: "because it's christmas Day, just because"

Son:" that makes no sense, just because what?".

... silently a proud tear rolled down my cheek as he was confronted with his addiction to being in the water and his first taste of a lifetime of illogical thinking that tries in vain to counter it"....

Although it's not so fun when at 10 he's doing unhooked stuff way more advanced than you've ever done ...

He's a true water baby that kid ...

Well to be entirely forthcoming to alleviate what was becoming a full blown stand off I then said "son there's plenty of wind coming in the next week so let's go and shoot some hoops"...because I could see he was getting a little "ancy"... his testosterone is staring to kick in... his
mother is starting to puzzle him somewhat

I really like your sons style on the straps and makes me wanna go down this path when I hit the directional boards, it looks so much more fun then the dudes doing traditional surfing stuff that doesn't look impressive because they being dragged along by a big kite.
In the other vid he's doing somemsick gouges in the pocket
