This is Paramotoring or Powered Para Gliding (PPG) and you can learn it here:
http://www.waparagliding.com/learntofly.html

I was searching for a buddy to learn it with here for long time and I couldn't find any one.

Your para glider will cost you around $2500, your harness will be around $300-$600 and your motor will cost around $4500.

You can fly for 3.5 hours with one full tank.

Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers
Alex

Powered paragliding used to be crap due to the unreliable gear. It's much much better now but you still have to dick around with motors and fuel and stuff. It's definitely not for me. There's still a certain suspicion of flying jet skis.

The good guys are doing full-on aerobatics (loops, tumbles and death spirals) and long distance flights (1000km ocean crossing). Almost any kind of acro on any kind of paraglider makes most freestyle kiteboarding look mega-gay (rail grabbing baton-twirlers!!!)

I've seen some great footage of people doing desert crossings and flying through jungle gorges and stuff.

You can still thermal them but they don't like too much wind.
