Looks like this mechanism could reduce the number of lines to two or even one. Although I doubt it will ever make it into our sport.

Geez you'd want the thing to fail safe, wouldn't you... I've dealt with R/C systems like this, I certainly wouldn't want to trust my life to some shaking servos that don't like getting water and sand all through them!
