Go to a surf shop. Tell them how much of a sissy you are.
Try everything on that they give you. Go for the one that fits the best. Don't worry about brands or colour (unless the colour is crap), go for what fits, that is the most important.
I have had oniel wetsuits forever, and I rate them very high. They last longer than my mates ones, the fit me perfect, keep me warm, and look pretty neat.

Yeah, would have to agree with Dawn Patol and Dogman.
I've had an O'neil wetty for about 6 years, and stopped washing it about 3 years ago. It's still going strong and just starting to perish now.

I'm probably stating the bleeding obvious but you do have a few options when looking a wetties:

Different thickness neoprene

Full length or short

Sealed or not sealed.

Where are you planing on kiting during winter? If in QLD then your probably after a 3mm wetsuit. In say WA then youd look for one as thick as possible.

Sealed wetsuits just means that all the seams have been glued together and then stitched.

The thicker the wetty, the more expensive they are. And sealed wetties are more expensive too, although any good brand of wetty will be sealed anyway.

ION wetsuits will be in stock in about 2-3 weeks. They are a kite and windsurfing specific wetsuit, made to withstand harnesses and the extra punishment we put our suits through.

They have extra padding on your shins for board collisions, bicep cutouts because we don't stand with our arms straight. Extra room in long arm suit to allow for fore arm swelling. Velcro leg straps to stop water going up your leg. Rib and kidney padding to help reduce impact during crashes and big moves. Hot stuff body lining, keeps your chest warm, so you can were a shorter wetsuits in colder conditions. And they are also really really comfortable.

Check out www.ion-products.com/ to check out the range. We are mainly stocking the STRIKE range.

I was a team rider for RIP CURL for 7 years, and always loved their suits. I now ride for ION, and am amazed at the difference having a specific suit for kiting, so much more comfortable! I guess you don't go running marathons in Ugboots, so it kind of makes sense.

Available through all good kite and windsurfing shops.

JB

Hey Harry,

RPS are definately stocking them, and they have an order in already, which will be delivered as soon as the shipment arrives. I would get your name put on one, as I know they are very popular.

Rip Curl wet suits! Best warranty you can get. LIFETIME!!!!! all my mates have em, unreal suits but like all wetties they'll eventually perish, and when they do you send em back and Rip Curl will repair it or REPLACE it!! I just sent my long sleeve wettie top back because seams came apart after 2 yrs of harness rubbing and they sent me a brand new one!! stoked! so ive bought a new steamer too now, best wettie ive owned.

I got a Mystic 'Cure' Steamer a couple of weeks ago, which is a Kite specific wetsuit, and love the thing. The rubber is really light and flexible, seams are fully sealed, fits like a glove and is really warm, has actually been too warm on a couple of days.

I surf as well as kiteboard and it has been great for surfing also, couldn't recommend it enough!

get an ion. i bought one bout a month back. best suit ive ever owned. they are made by north and are a specific windsport suit. padding in shins and rib area, velcro around ankles, larger forearm fit to allow for arm pump and swelling, full batwing. fully sealed seams. i could wear a tee shirt under mine and it wouls still come out dry. i bought the full steamer and actually get a bit hot and have to lay in water to cool down. the make an under knee/ long arm version which i would recomend gettindg. and all for under $500

you will notice all brands of wetties have a cheaper model and an expensive model.. for kitesurfing i recon get the cheaper model for two reasons you dont have to paddle in it so you don't need that you beaut super stretch material that you pay so much for and also you will get better buoyancy from a cheaper wetty cos they are a thicker denser neoprene. so save yourself a few hundred. you dont need the best for kitesurfing.and my vote is EXEL wetties.

Oneil phsyco 2 or guru 2. these are both seriously wicked suits and super supple material, warm and comfortable. i just got a guru 2 for $270. also ive heard the rip curl e-bomb is awesome. make sure u spend mony on a wetsuit because a s h i t one will make your kiting/surfing so much less fun.

I totally agree, i tried on all the fancy ripcurl suits, but i all thought that all across the shoulders and chest were too tight, and im not a big unit.
The O'Neil suits just seemed to fit the best, and were the cheapest, which is a bonus! I got a 3:2 which is a bit warm for summer and a bit cold for winter, but as USER says... Harden The F**K Up!
