Ok i was born and lived most of my life in Melb, so know what its like, but i dont know what its like to kite at. Ive been living in Noosa for the past 2 years and took up kiting just over a year ago. I am possably moving back to Melb but dont want to leave the wicked kiting up here. So what do the Melb kiters think? Is Melb crap or does it rock, Whats the local crew like? Am i mad to go back, or will i get a pleasent shock.

thanx

overall, not as good as SE QLD IMO - but lately its been pretty good with the sea breezes. Theres a good variety of spots, the worst of which are the most popular (st kilda, im looking at you ), and the best of them are awesome (pt henry, inverloch....). Also, its not unusual to drive long distances for a kite (especially in northerlies), and melbourne traffic sucks especially if your trying to cross the westgate bridge in peak hour to sneak in an after work sesh.

wind is OK lately, and the days are long with daylight savings. Ive been kiting enough lately to warrant taking a rest day to recover

Here's some nerdism for you. I have kept records since mid 2003.

In January, February, March and November, December we get out almost every day. The average gap between sessions is 1.5 days.

The rest of the year we get out every 3 days except for May and September where we get out every 4 days.

In July it climbs back up to a session every 2.7 days.

You can get by with a mid-size bow kite as a single kite quiver but you would miss out on a few excellent sessions if you did not have a light wind weapon and something for the occasional very strong wind day (30+ knots).

lol greg, cool, well i ride a 130 cardboard wake style(bindings) and have a 9m and 13m fuel, i will get something bigger also, probley a trusty 16.5 05 matrix (love em they pull like a truck), i should be down sometime in May. Not looking foward to the cold water but hanging to kite with some new people at some new places.

The amount of people using this forum who insist on turning the conversation toward the other user's bum is disturbing.

I have already stated, asd has Azza on my behalf, that my ass is off limits.

Laurie, you don't have a sponnoed link on Ass Masters and Poo Punchers do you?

The gay pick up scene must be really, really lean if you have to troll kite sites for a pick up Ran.

You've got the wrong guy mate.
