Mate, I enjoy all 5 of my senses when kiting. When I kite, I hear other riders first and then look around to see where they are and if they are a threat to my present course or planned trick.
I like the idea of music like Jack Johnson if I was doing a downwinder in sick waves or something with plenty of space between me and anyone else, but I still probably wouldn't do it coz I love the sound of breaking waves. But for riding at the local with everyone else, I agree with Mark, it's a bit lame.
You have a large blind spot upwind and behind you which you will hear LONG before you will see it. If you choose to deny yourself that awareness, that's fine if your on your own, but in the company of others, again, I reckon it's careless and a bit irresponsible. Just my opinion!
