I did that until the copper in the ear bud cable started parting and the case started leaking. It was fun, but I couldn't be bothered pay the price twice so I kite without music all over again.

what are they like when your kiting

I wore mine snow boarding i went from good to extremely crap i done about 10 front rolls, lost all my concentration.

Check out ebay, mine is the "H2O man" brand (comes in a waterproof floating cylinder and 1 g usb stick type mp3, controls are matched to cylinder, super easy to download tracks, takes one aaa battery which hasnt gone flat yet), other makes available, usually cheaper to buy direct from U.S.

Warning: depending on music it can motivate you to boost beyond skill, so far mine has survived numerous high impacts ( Im such a kook ) and it just keeps going.

If you are going to wear tunes in your ears when riding, make sure you don't ride anywhere near other riders because you wont hear them coming close to you and you'll end up in a tangle or worse!

Being deaf to your surrounding noises when kiting with others is pretty dangerous.

I love to hear the water noise and the wind in my ears. I also love to hear my mates hollerin' and hootin' when they jump big or pull a sweet move. Unplug for a while and enjoy your surroundings with all your senses!

Mate, I enjoy all 5 of my senses when kiting. When I kite, I hear other riders first and then look around to see where they are and if they are a threat to my present course or planned trick.

I like the idea of music like Jack Johnson if I was doing a downwinder in sick waves or something with plenty of space between me and anyone else, but I still probably wouldn't do it coz I love the sound of breaking waves. But for riding at the local with everyone else, I agree with Mark, it's a bit lame.

You have a large blind spot upwind and behind you which you will hear LONG before you will see it. If you choose to deny yourself that awareness, that's fine if your on your own, but in the company of others, again, I reckon it's careless and a bit irresponsible. Just my opinion!

What's wrong with singing to yourself? The other day I was belting out "Riders in the storm..ba babaaab baa" as the rain was pelting my face and the gusts got gnarly, then when the clounds parted just a bit I was singing "A little ray of sunshine, in the shape of .... a ray of sunshine... coming out of the clouds" which moved into.. "I'm gunna drop down the face of this wave... then I'm going back up again... oh yeah Riders on the storm, da da na naa naa naa..."

At sea no-one can hear you scream, so why not sing your arse off!!

When i kite, reality is muffled out by the sound of my own skill.

last week i did a four an a bit hour session with '... i should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky...' stuck in my head.... the only way i could save myself, was to meld it into a critcal, contemporary melodic jazz fusion pop, and go with...

".... i should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky.... i should be so lucky i kite...."

I know this is a little off topic however. I think this may be a good time for me to announce my intensions of getting a McDonalds franchise. How sweet this will be, I want to put it just Out the back of the break.
Just think you could have a kite then a burger out the back. Maybe for some extra profit I could sell burgers to surfers. Hmm not to mention the stand up paddle dudes
It just goes together the serenity of nature and a Mac.
Oh Oh what about floating big screen tv with surfing and kiting and stuff on it wilst you kite wicked. My mind is buzzing with all these new ideas. This is gonna be sick.

If you've ever been skiing or snowboarding, driven a car, you know that the emphasis is on the rider /driver, upwind/ behind, not to run into you. Aren't you supposed to look where you're going? BTW I wear ear plugs when I don't have my H2O Audio on.

kitesoft if you wrap your head in alfoil you will be able to pick up other kiters vibes, it also helps to keep water out of your ears.
