IMHO Kiting has the straightest, longest, smoothest learning 'curve' of any sport... Every time you go out you have 2 or three goals in mind.. and to begin with you almost always achieve some of these goals. Think about all the great firsts, moments where you reach one milestone and realise what new joys are in reach..

flying a big kite the first time
body dragging
getting up on the board
making a transition
riding toeside
going upwind
staying upwind - first time you end a session where you started
first time you lay back and drag one arm across the water
first little jumps
first big jump
first unintentional big jump
first landed jump
first aerial transition
first time pulling off some trick, wishing the whole beach's watching

that's to name a few quick highlights... I'm two years in and despite the odd backwards step (sometimes it does feel like 2 steps forward, one back..) and the odd plateau where it feels like I just can't progress, I'm still on the curve and still challenged every time I go out. that's what I love about this sport.

My current goals (works in progress):

front roll transitions (got backs nailed now)
downloop carving transitions (pretty much nailed)
boosting bigger, longer floatier jumps
raileys with a view to => hoochie glide => s-bend (one day!)
riding blind & surface 3s (still completely useless at!)
