Nice and windy, gusty as hell and straight westerly. Where should I kite in Perth?

I'm heading straight to Scarbs as soon as I can get out of the office. But I've got a weird fetish for direct onshore in waves, it doesn't float everyone's boat...

Hmm... I was a scarbs today for an hour but I must say a I was a bit dissapointed not as much wind as I had hoped for and the waves werent that good either. And also my new kite needs some tweaking to perform a bit better.. couldn't really get enough power out off it today.. I'll have that fixed by tomorrow and...

Tomorrow!! Looks heaps better! Better swell and wind hopefully See you all there again tomorrow...

I couldn't be stuffed going to woodies anyway, the amount of attitude carbine and his mates put on here it sounds like a crap place to kite. I'm only up to front rolls, back and double back rolls, unhooked raleys, almost completed kiteloops, and occasional bits of 'style' despite 3 years kiting. I'm old and fat, what do you expect? I'd like to come there and practice more but by the sounds of things I'm nowhere near cool enough.

I wonder if a sunrise to clock-on session would be feasible tomorrow in the surf? It will be today and not tomorrow if I don't get off the bloody net soon and go to bed. Will set alarm for early and try to convince myself before dozing off...

So there I was, waiting on the beach at Scarbs for the sun to come up this morning, sweating on there being enough light for me to get a sesh in before having to leave for work. By about 6.40 there was, but I'd held off rigging until then just in case it didn't work. 6.47 and I was ready to go, launched and discovered I had brought the wrong kite . In hindsight, 23-28kts is just that little bit higher than the optimal 19-24 I'm chasing to test out the repair on my favourite kite's bar and lines. Should have bought the small kite. But I didn't, and it was a case of drop it onto the flag line, reel my way into it and pack up for work. Oh despair, when oh when will the fabled 19-24 be back in Perth?

Apart, that is, from just after the patch of 15-20 between 6 and 6.45 yesterday. The patch of light wind that wasn't enough to get me out past the foamies. The one that that affected me with a doom and despair enough to leave the beach in sorrow.

Bring on Saturday... Hopefully.

BTW, Lancelin, Wedge Point, Hillary's (maybe), Mandurah (Eastern side of Harvey Estuary or Peel Inlet), should all be good in a Wester.

I hear ya Pat.

Your right about the too cool for school crew - probably good skills but bad attitude. It must be hard getting through life only having an acorn packed away in the basement Not that I'd know of course...

Geez Pat I havent had a decent sesh in a month!!! Too much work and the last 3 session I have had not one but two kites fall out of the sky... sigh... anyone got a 38m kite out there?????

Oh, also on the only good wind day (25+)3 weeks ago I copped my board square on the cheeck with claret everywhere and a nice new 2" battle scare... Geez it was only 5 mins into a ripper sesion with 2 humongo jumps under the belt. Tried to keep going but was getting pretty dizzy 15 mins later and ended a bit concussed the next day. It hit real hard so I was very lucky not to get a fracture or spit a handfull of teeth out though

Really stupid thing actually, I had the board in my right (upwind hand) bring it around while looking at the kite... board rolls over a large bit of swell and catches on 25+ breeze just as I turn around to avalook!!! Crunch!!! Board = 1 Me = what day is it???

Lesson learnt - high wind bring the board around downwind derrr...

Babysitting the squids Saturday Love those lads but tempted to give em away to a good home!! Anyone got a kite-creche setup in Perth??

'bout the same as yesterday arvo, still about 5 foot faces, and messy as hell.

Should be interesting this arvo. By the time I get out of work, sort my kit and get on the beach it's generally about 6pm, right when the wind is scheduled to drop off. Plus with the swell building all day, might be interesting trying to get out. Might have a bit of Southerly in it by then, could actually be quite good.

If it doesn't work, there's always Saturday night
