Just a word of warning...SW this weekend could be very nasty and could easily have 10 knot gusts. If you're a beginner pick your time carefully or better still just watch.

Picnic Point is okay in a SW, just take care launching as the grasss can be slippery and there are lots of trees downwind. It is flat and shallow for about 400m out so should be good.

High tide is in the middle of the day so it should be good. The carpark is near the corner of Tuggarah Pde and Fairview Ave in The Entrance.

Forecast looks like the wind is dropping in the middle of the day.

Have fun

Picnic point is sweet if u don't mind a bit of mud between the toes and works from round SW to NW.

Where's this boat harbour that works in a Sou-Westerly?

Yarra Bay is also great spot for SW. Had this all to myself and a couple mates many times throughout winter season. Used to be popular with local crew but as many have dispersed by moving out of Sydney or concentrating more on wave riding it has become somewhat unused. It gets a bit gusty if wind moves too southerly or too westerly but in pure SW its a beauty.
Look in the UBD for location or have a look at the map NSWKBA put together in conjunction with Southern Sydney Kiteboarding Club. Ive got some if you see me on the beach or Kitepower has some at the shop.
If you want to use this location regularly its a good idea to join the Yarra Bay Sailing Club as you get parking facilities right at the water and can also use the hot showers etc. after your sess...then you can sink a few cold ones whilst sitting on the verandah overlooking the water whilst you wait for the juicy medium rare T-Bone to come off the grill ... see why I love the place
PS, Its where I learned to ride...never ride alone ... that applies to even the so called safest flat water spots ... there is always the unknown ... you need a buddy covering your back.
