Hi,

it looks, that I am going to spend some time in Sydney. Starting June, I*ll be living in Sydney for for probably 6 Month. Too bad - its your winter. But I guess winter in Sydney is still better than summer in Germany. I am really looking forward to it.

Can I ask you a question:
Since I have limited baggage allowance, I will be only able to bring one board along. Which one should it be for the spots around Sydney:
- my lightwind board - a Spleene Door 59 (159x42) or
- a Spleene Rip (138x39).

My idea was, that I might buy an old surfboard in Sydney and use it as lightwind and waveboard. Could you buy surfboards for a reasonable price? Does that all make sense?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Regards
Erwin

Bring the 138 as you `will need it for are winter westerlys Gusty and can be strong 30 knots+.Winter can be no wind or gusty strong winds. Should not have any trouble getting a surfboard. Check out Buy & Sell on Seabreeze.

Winter in Sydney is normally pretty good for wind most people average a couple of sessions per week at least.
Water might drop to 15/16C if its a cold year!
Bring the 1.38, get a lightwind board here, plenty of options to choose from, surfboards grow on trees here.

Goodwinds

I am a german as well and have my Door 164 down here in Sydney. I would recommend to bring the Door because in winter time you have very often almost no wind or very light winds (besides the frontal westerlys) which could be just enough for the big board. Down here you can buy a smaller used one very easily and sell it later when you will leave.

The other reason to bring the door is that you will not find any comparable lightwind board down here. There are only some airrush or FLX but they are not even close to the performance of your door.

Smaller boards can be bought very cheap and easy in Sydney.

And at last there are quite a few people very interested in Spleene boards (doors). You might get a good price for it here in Sydney because there is no dealer for Spleene boards.

Cheers

I think you should bring the RIP. Only reason that i say that is that it will be easier to travel with.

The others are right. Winter wind here is either 25+ or 10knots.

The choice really comes down to:
Do you want to buy a surfboard here or a twintip?
