there is no right or wrong, just use whatever you feel most comfortable on and have the most fun on. Surfboards are better for pure waveriding, but I prefer mutants for messing around in onshore slop, they are better for jumping too.

I've been riding one of these the past few months. Getting the hang of it and really like the feel. Good build quality. You can move the footstraps around if you like the TT style or set them in line, depending on taste.
I've only had it in small bumpy surf so far, so can't comment too much on it's wave riding ability. But that said, riding backhand down the line is a lot of fun. Toeside is smooth and effortless. The real trouble with TT style boards is controlling the speed. In small surf you need some speed to stay on top of the water unlike surfboards. Since I ride 50% flat water it's a good compromise.

The Jimmy Lewis Rad - F (137") is the best board I have ridden. Made super tuff and goes sick in the waves.
Choice Kite Surfing is the only shop that stocks them in Oz as far as I know.

I've been riding the RRD Toxic Wave mutant for a while now and absolutely love it.

Just googling I noticed it's had a revision for 2010 (http://www.kingofwatersports.com/rrd-toxic-wave-2-kiteboard-2010-i7716.html) compared to the one I have (www.sossurf.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=96&Itemid=1)

One thing I did was put bigger surf fins on the back two main fins for more grip which made a good difference.

Like the others said it depends what you want. The guy I bought the toxic wave off much preferred riding a proper surf board so was getting rid of it.
