Sitting here at my desk, and trying to determine whether to take off early for a kite. Forecasts on seabreeze say a big fat red NO. Forecasts from BOM say 15-20 knots maybe

Fawkner Beacon current reading says 20knots - You beauty

St Kilda current reading says 12 knots

What to do?? Leave and stand on beach for afternoon - or sit in front of PC and wait for another day of better sea breezes??

I think this is the best one....

BOM says this for today "Wednesday until midnight: NE winds 10/15 knots. W'ly winds 5/10 knots in the western bay early morning. Seas to 0.7 of a metre. Isolated early morning showers."
http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDQ17500.txt

And it's currently dancing around at 16-19 knots N/NNE.

Hilarious... Why do we bother with forecasts... Let's all jsut go and live where we kite.

Goodwinds [}:)]

Where is the wind meter at St Kilda? and does it display accurately? currently at 14 knots , so it might not be worth it but if it is wrong I wouldn't like to miss out . Last year we only had fawkner beacon and it was pretty accurate.

Current Fawkner speed is 18knots, we have a wind gauge out there too which I have access to. Not sure how this compares to BoM (they have a gauge just near ours) but thought I'd pass the info on. Average speed = 18kn, Max = 21kn so sems pretty stable.

Cheers,

It will blow in Melbourne... eventualy... you just have to be always ready and waiting, so give up your life and go kiteboarding.

Went down – it was so worth getting up early and leaving work to get down there – NOT ! There was no wind at St Kilda last night and what was there was up and down like a yoyo from my observations

BOM – ignore 15-20 seabreezes what a joke
Fawkner – ok if you are in the middle of the bay
Seabreeze – pretty accurate
St Kilda – windmeter looked spot on

But what fun would the sport be if whenever the forecast said 20 knots it was actually 20 knots – ummm heaps!! What would it be like if it was always 20 knots….

While we on the my town is better than yours, I still think Sydney has the nicest women...half a loaf of bread and fifty cents and you can have anyone you want...

Okay, i'm headed to bed now before i get shot by one of the female kiters from Sydney
