Noticed on the front page that it says (under the windsurfing section):

"A windsurfer holds the world speed record for sailing craft".

Surely that should be changed to:

"Windsurfers like to live in the past and still believe that they ride the fastest sailing craft in the world. In fact 3 kitesurfers broke the 500m record in 2008 (Robert Douglas USA Luderitz, 49.84 kts; Sebastien Cattelan FRA Luderitz, 50.26 kts; Alexandre Caizergues FRA Luderitz, 50.57 kts). The reason that we don't mention this in the kitesurfing section above is for three reasons:

1) kitesurfers don't give a S*** because kitesurfing is obviously more fun
2) the water sail craft speed record is now held by a hydroptere (51.36 knots)
3) the real sail craft speed record is on land by Ecotricity Greenbird (109.6 knots) although there are unconfirmed claims of ice sail craft reaching over 130 knots
"

Note for any polies thinking of rising to this bait: Yes I do windsurf (since 1982), yes its a great sport, no I don't take myself as seriously as you do

Noticed on the front page that it says (under the Gay section):

"Kitesplosh holds the world jerking off record for a human being".

Surely that should be changed to:

"Kitesplosh likes to live in the past and still believe that he rides the fastest sailing craft in the world. In fact Kitesplosh broke the 500m record in 2008 (Kitesplosh USA Luderitz, 49.84 kts; Kitesplosh FRA Luderitz, 50.26 kts; Kitesplosh FRA Luderitz, 50.57 kts). The reason that we don't mention this in the kitesurfing section above is for three reasons:

1) Kitesplosh don't give a S*** because Kitesplosh is obviously a jerk.
2) the water sail craft speed record is now held by a Kitesplosh (51.36 knots)
3) the real sail craft speed record is on land by Ecotricity Kitesplosh (109.6 knots) although there are unconfirmed claims of ice sail craft reaching over 130 knots"

Note for any people with brains thinking of rising to this bait: Yes I do windsurf (since 1982), yes its a great sport, no I don't take myself as seriously as you do. Because I know all of you, so I can make a comment that "you all take yourself too seriously", and I love myself a great deal.

In butter flat water kiters go quicker, but in real life sailing across a bay or behind the surf it's pretty hard to keep up with a good windsurfer, haven't tried a course racing board though.

Yes, and it also says 'seabreeze' in more than one place.

yet there was no seabreeze where I was today, nor was there one yesterday, nor one forecast for tomorrow.

clearly
a) this whole site is built on a lie, a big fat stinking lie
b) there is a conspiracy to imply that seabreezes still occur when they have all stopped due to global warming, acid rain and excessive meat consumption
c) don't believe everything you read that is given to you for free
d) things change and what was true yesterday may not be true today. Life is so complex I know. If you need somebody to fluff your pillow give mummy a call.

I am pretty sure the information 'A windsurfer holds the world speed record for sailing craft' being a little out of date isn't going to affect the world, or your quality of life.

On behalf of the nation of Australia I would like to apologise to Kitesplosh.

Conversation certainly heads into new territory around here when the seabreezes die off, and the "days since kited" enter double digits...

I don't understand the recent fighting in kite/windsurfing forums between the two sports.

People are even creating logins especially to incite hatred between the sports. Bizarre.

Live & let live...

I think "inciting hatred" is a bit over the top laurie. I can't see what the problem with a bit of stirring is. Or have we all got a bit to sensitive to be able to handle it.

I'll put my hand up .... IVe ventured over to their ( windsurfers ) forum a few times over the years ..... Just to stir the pot

always under my correct user name and always with just a bit of good spirited banter. I have never seen any issues between kiters and windsurfers on Vic beaches & I would say that 90% of riders in both sports actually respect each other and find the online banter to be just a bit of fun.
