Hi all! Genuine question, so please forgive the ignorance (and the wrongness of riding a twin tip in waves )

Just wondering what the advantages for unhooking would be please, given I ride a twinnie? I'm moving the kite around a lot as I go up and down the wave.

When do folks who unhook hook back in please?

Ta.

hey man, you usually unhook when riding surfboards as it frees you up so you can surf your natural stance like when u surf. unhooking while on the twin tip would do the same, but unhooking on twin tips is for doing tricks... grab a surfboard man you will have way more fun on the wave!!!

(1) Tricks such as raileys, tantrums etc etc are all lots of fun in small beach breaks

(2) When riding the wave, unhooking will let you open up your body to be more similar to snowboarding (for a correlation with the twin tip) or surfing

ow usually unhook as the wave starts to form/ starts giving you momentum along with the kite, usually you have to trim you kite so your not to overpowered while unhooking!

If you really want the breakdown of unhooking watch SMACK dvd - Ben Wilson instructional for waves
It explains the mechanics and benefits of unhooking
The first thing you need to do is set your kite properly so it doesnt fly backwards when you unhook

I'm afraid I've got similar inclinations!

But trying to be convinced on the forum before trying it in real life
- I expect to stack it, need to sort out the lines, etc plus set up the leash different (Matt /Vishy and Airborne Kitesurfing have kindly offered to advise. Cheers guys). I've checked out Smack already too so have an idea.

Switching to a surfboard is certainly on the cards at some point (money wise). Also for now, I'm just having a ball in the waves on the twinny so the incentive to change is lower This question is really for the twinnie and Perth beachies (as mentioned in the title). I'd defo switch to a surfboard if I was riding Marg R reefbreaks regularly!

Thanks again for all the advice!
