Anyone know about kiting in San Diego. I've heard the wind's generally light ... but are you liking to get consistent wind there in the season...? When is the best season...I assume it's their summer when the sea breezes kick in...?
Is there good wave kiting?
Any tips would be much appreciated.

Hi Maramu - I have surfed a lot in San Diego over the past 12 years - its does get good sea breezes just like us - thats where they hold the americas cup. Places like Ocean Beach should be fine but they do get very busy, some of the beaches between SD and Huntington would be good too - and often the surface conditions are glassy with the kelp bed out the back.
Sunset cliffs would be great but you couldnt get out there, but further round the point you just never know, I did see something about a kite surfing group at Huntington beach or check these guys out - www.mantawatersports.com
Baja would rock too - I surf K38's a bit an in the arvos it gets good sea breezes and if you can manage getting setup (lots of cliffs) once you are out the back it would be awesome.
Have a mate that lives at Ocean Beach and he hasnt seen any kites out there though... seems to be a newish sport for that part of the world.

San Diego is big kite country (16m is considered small)...
Baja is a great escape, and you find many San Diegans (sp?) down there... I would suggest this lagoon next to a place called San Quiten... very epic kiting... cheap hotel, etc. About 2 hours south of the border.
North in Orange County the wind also gets a bit stronger... also check carefully where you kite. they have many restrictions and the life guards have no problem issuing fines and confiscating gear...
If you are adventurous - Punta San Carlos is rated by windsurfing magazine as the world's best wave sailing spot. Solosports (Google) offers very expensive trips there... or you can hard core it... just note that even though there is a town on the map, there is nothing!!! we found that out the hard way... very very very good spot... 5 hours from the border.... I could go on...
I was down there in May... had really good wind...
