thanks for the links elizabethb. I read up about the boardies over wettie thing.

So now not only do I need to purchase an expensive brand name wettie to look cool, I also need to fork out for a pair of boardies AND a cool looking T just to get out on the water.

How do you think a pair of stubbies and a flannelette shirt would look over a wetty? Not quite the same I suspect...

i can understand both sides but i think that freestyle windsurfing is a hell of a lot harder and it requirers more skill but then again different strokes for different folkes

ps windsurfers still hold the world speed record

I was thinking of getting a blue neoprene stinger suit and wearing a red pair of budgie smugglers over the top. Maybe a red beachtowel around my shoulders.

Pump up and away! It's gotta catch on.... it's just gotta!

who cares about the speed records or being closerto the sea..

and for those poles who tried to cut me down from my last post, i can respect poles who do it when its cranking and they can do flips and **** i said that.

And as for the pole who rescued some boards i say good on hi, if only the **** down here were that nice, instead they are trying to mow me down and clim a section of the water which is clearly the best spot.

Why should they get the rights over us, we should be able to share. If you pole board in anything under 20 knots u will always looks slow and lame... thats sailing, the extreme flips and big waves are the good bit.

Hey guys, we are all into water sport, whether one form or another, or both. I use a board and a pole, because thats what I am comfortable with. Never had any dramas from either side, but if I did, I would take a deep breath, think about those poor buggers who were blown up in Bali recently, or my friend who died of a brain tumor at 21, then think how lucky I was and get on with it.

One simple rule for Kiters to remember when Kiting near Windsurfers.

Stay Downwind !!!!

Headless Windsurfers are not a pretty sight !! Our lines are very tight and very tough.

all this crazy talk, starting bad vibes is no good. reminds me of back in west oz when a minority of perth surfers decided it would be a great idea to start a hate campaign against the bodyboard crew by starting a brand called "SALT" Surfers Against Lid Traffic.they were selling t-shirts and stickers for cars and let me give you the hot tip, some very nasty things started happening to the guys involved and there cars........ Not such a great idea afterall what ever floats you're boat i say. as long as you're gettin you're buzz on

Why should we stay downwind of them...
Obviously not ride straight upwind of them but their is always swimmers downwind of u, what makes pole boarders special.
SUrely they can ride at the same spot without them feeling protective

I think most kitesurfers only ever see recreational windsurfers or windsurfers when theres 15knots when themselves are out kitesurfing. I could see how you could form an opinion of windsurfing being like yachting.

but most kiters don't see really good sailers out in 30knots or out in swell. Because their at home looking out the window.

But its the same with kitesurfing 90% of people just sail along turn around sail along turn around sail along turn around.......... which isn't exactly very dynamic, a bit like yachting really. Only a very few make the kitesurfing image what it is, that is that its an extreme sport (of sorts).

Kiters I recommend you download that video, then consider whether windsurfing is really that bad.

because your operating a dangerous peice of equipment that you may not be able to control in an emergency. Sailboarding rig, you drop it and its all over. Kite, you whipe out 6 sailboarders a car and a family having a picnic before your able to pull the pin.

and not the least, it takes little time and ability to be able to ride a kite and board. Inexperienced water uses and general retards can kitesurf at a competent level. If I was a sailboarder I would not want my lifw to be in the hands of someone like this. Atleast when kiters ride downwind the sailboarder is in control of their safety and the kiter of theres, not the kiter responsible for both people.

Gee what a shock that this topic has yet again surfaced over here.
The usual inferiority complexes have once again stalled the progress of this sport you claim to be above any other.

Good to see Uminaboy is back with a vengence. The funny thing he doesn't realise is that we all know who he is and find it extremely funny that he can fire such comments when he struggles so badly on the water.

This thread was meant to simply be for some guy from OS asking where he can get a spare part. Not only have you disgraced your sport, but you haven't done our country any favours either.
Get over it you pathetic tosspots.

To answer your question Turkey, you can certainly post your question on the Windsurfing forum, and you will not be abused in any way. If someone can answer your question, I'm sure they will. Unfortunately I can not help you on this occasion.

Enjoy your trip.

Well i judged the wave kiting Nationals last year at Point MOore Geraldton, yer i dont kite, BUT with 20 years wave sailing and my first nationals at Margret River in 1988 and 10year reunion in 1998 plus LIVEN in the windsurfen and kiting meca gero , you d think i could tell who was rippen it up and who wasnt. HA

Nothing ****s me more than justifying how i could have been a judge.to converted kiting kooks and new commers helpen yr sport.
Wake up you tea baggers get your kites out of the clouds, all of you have had an inceident of some sort where you have lost it.
As for Kiting the Mid West carve up but be warned if theres lots of sailboarders youll upset some one.So time you sessions and give
your self and others room.

Hopefully waveslave should be getting his lesson about now as I suspect he is on his usual annual trip to Corronation ignoring their local rules and being the arrogant little tosser he is.

I'm prompted to quote the words engraved on the bottom of the "rules plaque" above the Margies main break stairs...

Give Respect to Gain Respect

my experience has been that the ocean has its own way of pegging down those that venture out with a whole lot of bad attitude.

3 rules to being human.....be kind, be kind, and be kind.

Hey uminaboy do you know of Mark "Hedgie" Pederson?
He is a kiter(instructer?) at Toowoon Bay these days (you would have kited with him) and formely one of Australia's greatest pro windsurfers having been top ten in the world many times even top five...this bloke was one of the originals to sail Jaws and a fcken awesome wavesailer...last year on a bigger day at Toowoon he was out kiting and then went home to grab his windsurf gear for a blast..he absolutely ripped..he's been kiting there for a while and is bloody good at it but that was the only day ive seen him sail in person and that is the only day the he sticks out in my mind when he's out there...remember this too mate WINDSURFERS INVENTED KITESURFING...and dont compare kiting to wakeboarding at all..kiting- is floating and hanging(just like of a clothes line)..wakeboarding- is being pulled horizontal by a powerful engine.

Give some respect you fuuuucking MORON!

Uminaboy you are a total tool mate.
You a a total blowin to the coast as well as being a total kook.
In the early days of kiting on the coast the windsurfers cut us a lot of slack and we all go along well. This was way before blowin kooks such as yourself came along and started this crap. Have a good look at your self and crawl back under the rock you came from.

All the best Nev
